Cavaghn Miley Signs

This could be an astute signing.

With Atkinson, Ogogo & Dunne all leaving, along with Neal’s loan deal finishing, we have no one in there.

Cav is a workhorse, who wins the ball, and gives it to those that can express themselves on it, very mould in the mould of Neal. He is a tidy user of the ball, but not really a “string puller” if you like.

Turned down another NL club to sign for us, and wasn’t released by Eastleigh, they wanted to keep him, but Cav wanted to try his luck elsewhere so he let his deal run down.

Another bit of good business, not quite the standout in the way that Mooney is, but another important part of the jigsaw.
Is Sam Smart another that we may see coming through the door. I know Stan followed him on twitter recently. believe he is a RB which we obvs need and not renewed his contract at Eastleigh. Any chance do you think?

I don’t comment on individuals until they are signed, sealed, sometimes before they are delivered ?

Sounds like the needed upgrade on Dunne, Ogogo and Atkinson. That’s the position that held us back most until the loan signing of Neal. Absolutely imperative that we got some legs in there with someone who can out of possession close down fast and in possession retain the ball. For those bemoaning the lack of experience he’s get the best part of 200 appearances at this level under the belt and captained Jersey at the age of 21. Has played for England C which shows he’s got the pedigree at this level too.

Also an early contender for most yellow cards for the team next season.
No Neil as already won the most yellow cards for next season hoping so ???

Blimey like buses you wait around for ages and two come along at once whoopee.

If we are going for 343 (which I hope we are) as our go to set up the exactly the right sort of player. We need a couple of very fit hard working CMs who will do the work without the ball yet have a but of quality with it. Never seen the guy play but the management team seem to have a very clear ideal what they are looking for.

Sounds like a 'Mark Bentley' type of signing .
Think he’s more of a Harrison Neal/Luke Hyam/Gary Deegan/Jean-Paul Kalala
style player who’ll sit in front of the defence and tackle anything that moves rather than a box to box player.

The type of goals he’ll stop are that Dan Mooney goal at Altrincham someone linked to on other thread where Ralph shielded him inside and the central midfielder supposed to be covering that space was walking about aimlessly and then just stopped instead of staying on his toes and goal side.

If he can stop that type of goal whilst also being tidy in possession he’ll be a big upgrade over what we had before January.

Welcome to Mr Miley.

It's a team game - and no more so than in getting the midfield balance between defence, attack & creativity. Fingers crossed for this.
