Really impressed from what I've seen so far. He may have missed several good opportunities against Peterborough, but he got himself in some very good positions and is forming a good partnership with Noel Hunt. The ball he played to put Hunt through one on one was sublime and Hunt should definitely have scored it. Give it another couple of games and I think we'll see Mooney deliver the goods once he develops a better understanding with Hunt.

Exactly what I was going to say. Mooney seems to have that ability to get himself in the right place at the right time. he just needs to start hitting the net now too. If he plays and creates like he did on Saturday though then he definitely deserves to be in the side alongside Hunt.

Slightly off topic, but I think we must be careful not to write Pigott off before he gets started. There is a good player (for FL1) in there, PB just needs to bring it out. Easier said than done though with Hunt and Mooney currently in pole position.

Back on topic, for me, Mooney will need to score more regularly to make me feel that Johnny Stokes wasn't right in his assessment.

I think he definitely needs a goal to boost his confidence, he looks nervous, when he gets one hopefully we'll see his true value.

Mooney as the lone man up front = pants
Mooney with Hunt up top=possibilities look very good.

Take note Phil.

Split opinion linked to getting in great positions to head in 6! but not scoring any of them. Would BBBC have managed as well? Partnership will continue to develop on the training ground no doubt and hopefully if Phil can play 2 upfront more often will see the best of the pairing coming through in 3 or 4 more games time? Like it or not though Phil likes to strongly jiggle his side for each match depending on the opponents, so may not always get the run out together, and will he go for another goalscoring striker , as he claimed we needed?
