The current crowd disturbances in France always seem to involve England supporters in some way or the other. Either as victims or aggressors our fans are never out of the headlines. Once you give a dog a bad name it never goes away and that, again, seems to be the case in France. What annoys me is that although EUFA have threatened us with disqualification if we don't behave, some of our 'fans' still are intent on getting involved. This is not a new thing, every major tournament we qualify for seems to have some sort of England fans disturbance. I have to say that the trouble is always down to a small minority of England fans, the majority go to games, watch the match and are a credit to their side.
So apart from barring all England support aboard, what else can be done? I don't have a simple answer, but sooner or later we will end up with a permanent ban, either playing wise, or on fans attending if we don't do something very soon. As I type this the TV is telling me that thousands of England fans are heading for the Wales v England game without tickets, let's hope this doesn't heap more misery on our reputation aboard.
