Lewis Hamilton to miss Sakhir Grand Prix (Bahrain) weekend due to positive Covid-19 test

George Russell to take his place!! Great move by Merc and Russell’s chance to prove himself. Hope he gets a podium or the win!

Of course he is wanting that, he currently doesn’t have a seat for next season. Haas today announced one of their seats taken by Nikita Mazepin, which means one is still up for grabs. Rumours doing the rounds that the other seat will go to Mick Schumacher.

Now confirmed Schumacher gets 2nd Haas seat.

Aye, shame we couldn't get Mazepin's old man to buy the club - he's absolutely minted ?

That's why he's got the drive for next season, and why Schumacher will be joining him. RG said he doesn't want the crash to be the last thing he does in F1. I understand that.

And that is totally understandable. These guys are super-fit but the slightest chance of his burnt hands hindering control of the car and the choice is obvious but he and the F1 authorities aren't fools, they'll do the safest thing for all involved. Good luck to him and wish him well.

Really looking forward to seeing Russell though - that lad is such a talent and whilst hoping LH a speedy recovery it would be such a filip for GR to have the final two drives and see what pressure he can put on VB.

GR will want to avoid a repeat of the Emilia Romagna GP incident.

Can you read much into a sub 55 second lap?
Not too much, but they were on the same setup so i think it’s reasonable to say that he’s got used to it quite quickly and should be competitive

Cracking effort from Russell there, so close!!

Not strictly Formula 1 related but Mick Schumacher confirmed as new F2 champion. Felt a bit sorry for the UK's Calum Ilott.

It is related as he will be in F1 next season.

7.1 billion net worth :Stunned:

Money talks in the sport of F1, exactly why Lance Stroll won’t lose his seat at Racing Point (Aston Martin) whilst they have daddy’s backing. They’ll let Perez go who is the better driver and brings a lot of Mexican cash.

:Whistling::Whistling::Whistling:

What a great race, feel absolutely gutted for Russell that was his win and he drove a great race and showed he is a great driver. It also shows that Hamilton’s car and that Mercedes is a great car and shows that his success is more because of the car than his ability. A relative rookie has jumped in and only because of the team ****ing up pretty much won the race! The bloke has had the car less than a week! Thank you George Russell, I really enjoyed that race and hope you get what you deserve and get a top drive! Fingers crossed he gets to race in it again in the next race. F1 without Hamilton is enjoyable!

As for Perez, over the moon for him, he was unlucky on the first lap and I thought he would struggle after that. He proved to Racing Point that they should’ve gone with him instead of silver spoon boy! Hope he stays in F1 next season.

Cracking race, gotta give it to George, that's the second time I've seen him sitting on the grass by the side of the track with his head in his hands, very unlucky. Valteri? well what can you say.

Also goes to show just why Lewis is the number 1 (who also jumped into a McLaren as a 'relative rookie', how did that turn out?) and he would've easily won that and probably called out the team on the strategy call for the pit stop.

Hamilton has won races and championships when he's not had the fastest car on the grid. Yes it's a shame none of the other constructors are anywhere near Mercedes at the moment, but trying to use Russell's performance as a way to bash Hamilton is a stretch. Russell has always been very highly rated. Hopefully we'll get to see him in a competitive car very soon.

Really pleased for Perez to get his first win.

Unusually sloppy performance from team Mercedes AMG today robbing both their driver's of podium finishes with competitors Leclerc & Verstappen both taking themselves off on the first lap. Pleased for the upturn in good fortune of the Pink Panther's though, especially after last weekend.

Lewis Hamilton to return for Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend after negative Covid-19 test, George Russell reverts back to the Williams.

Shame, wanted Russell to get his chance to get that win he was robbed of.
