Favourite Southend Pubs

Best pub is, obviously, the Spread.

Other than that, I'd always head to the Billet / Smack / Peterboat in Old Leigh - my three fave pubs in the area.

Matt

In no particular order :-

The Billett
The Smack
The Harry
The Sarah Moore
The Broker

Everytime I go in The Peterboat I tend to regret going as it takes ages to get served - Sometime's I end up going to the Smack and walking the drinks round to the tables outside The Peterboat as it is normally quicker!

If we go to Old Leigh for events like The Folk Festival and Regatta (to name a few), then I always put a couple of bottles of 'screw-top' wine inthe rucksack....

Cork and Cheese is a good little pub in southend, and although a typical chain, O'Neills is pretty reasonable. Southend is strange in that it has some really good clubs but the local pubs and bars are pretty poor in comparison to most other places. For a pub session I tend to stick to Leigh

Where are these then I am yet to come across them.

Now that I am slipping into my mid 20's Im finding the likes of Tots and Mayhem a little too much. Much preferring the delights of Leigh Broadway. Some really nice bars and not overpriced really. Plus the totty in there is A* Grade.

I do like Slug and Lettuce in Southend but was in there for one last night. Glass of Rose set me back £4.55 - for a SMALL!! Far too expensive, perhaps they are putting petrol in it now. Would explain the price aswell as the state it leaves me in.....

well i'm comparing it to much bigger places like bristol, sheffield, leicester, coventry... the clubs in southend can been hit and miss, but one the whole we're spoilt for choice. i don't go as much as i used to but mayhem, talk, seymours, reflex and storm are all decent clubs and top nights
