Wonder if any other club has a road/street named the same as their local rivals, literally a stones throw from their ground?.
But it will!Sorry but another false dawn. Work will not start anytime soon.
Yes the demolition of the flats, college, and shops will be the first work on the roots hall site, where that fits into the grand scheme of things I don't recall. The time line for the project was set out in some sort of article or submission but god knows where you would find said document
As I recall, the corner where the shops are is one of the last things to require demolishing which is why they weren't considered to be holding things up too much. I would imagine that Prospects will go quite quickly and then there will be good access to the area outside the ground where much work is needed on levelling - will they dig into the hill or build it up?
Even in the prem 22k will be plenty for SouthendBe nice we don't have flats at all next to our new stadium, what if we did a Hull or Swansea in 10 years time and move up to PL lol and want to expand our stadium :p
The store isnt going on the stadium its going where the flats and carpark are which is why people were saying it was going to be built at the same time, that article clearly says otherwise. ie pretty much what you say, stadium + Housing, superstore and then stand2/retail.
I assume by housing they mean the flats at Fossetts because the homes on Roots hall will be where the stadium sits.
Jam Man is right, the store will be going where the car park is which is why they can get on with infrastructure with us still playing at RH. Where people park will be another matter entirely.

I think you're underselling the lure of the Premiership. If we were to get to the Prem in 3 years, I would expect we could regularly get a 95-98% full stadium.
Then 22k max will be fine. Truthfully, if I ever get to see Southend in the Prem with a gate of 21560 (98%), I will be heaven. If it takes as long as I think it could to achieve that target, I could be in heaven anyway!
Stadium timescale.
3 sides will commence soooooooooon.
Main stand will commence sooooooooon after the 3 sides are built.
Have you got 30 possibly 40 years left:winking:
I heard from my grandmothers poodle that a Ronaldo Martini hair stylists shop will be the first retail outlet to be built, charging a mere £125 for a blow job or is that blow dry, im not up on these things
