Fossetts Farm Stadium in doubt

:stunned:
It's got great acoustics though, the sound really reverberates around those empty seats.

You'd think with having all those empty seats pseudo drums could be used to create a real atmosphere, all that echo as well, some bands would kill for that!

Would they even sell out if they got United in the cup?

Darlington was a big money laundering exercise so its not really fair to compare them to us.

which stands to reason, the good new grounds are ones with succesful teams, and vice-versa, which comes back to the whole gamble that it is!
if we need 8000 to break even now, i dread to think what it will be at fossetts, and im sure even when we get the new ground ther'll be 3-4 years of "cant buy players coz were still paying for the ground" stuff

We will have the retail units bringing in money.

Hope so Mr B dont want another late 90's victoria plaza on our hands ! :)
unsure if southend can sustain 3 casinos as i know that industrys been whacked a bit of late.

Yeah well obviously that's in theory! ;)

I know there will be a Morissons over there, not sure what else is planned.

pound shop prhaps?
and must admit aside from co-op morrisons has to be the worst supermarket!
.....blimey im full of cheer today, roll on friday night....

Lets be honest, this stadium was never going to happen. Will be at least another 5-10 years before we move out of RH.

Apart from this being a complete non story it's highly unlikely that RM would go down the CPO route with any business that's holding up things. CPO's, and the inevitable appeals that come with them, can take between 12 to 15 months to complete. I seriously doubt that this project would survive being put back to that extent.

Exactly . . . so when there is still no deal reached and the only way forward is a cumpolsory purchase order, thus the development falling through, we can look back at this time as being amongst the darkest days

Let's face it, the college hold all the key cards as far as this move in concerned, and RM is basically over a barrell with his backside in the air !!!

That's a very simplistic view in my opinion. Prospects are a business and as such would not turn down the offer of a buyout of their land should that offer be in their best interests. It's a question of when does that offer become to good to refuse. Yes they could just hold out for an unrealistic outcome knowing full well that RM and his money men are under extreme pressure to finalise the deal but there is a point where the threat of a CPO and the subsequent losses that that would entail tends to bring a little common sense back to the negotiation table.

Holding out because you think you have someone by the short and curlies is all well and good if that person doesn't have a back up that could leave you seriously out of pocket. Something that a CPO most certainly would.

Not really but i actually look forward to my football at Roots with the old style the way it is and buzz of being near the pitch. Don't think i could ever enjoy it so much in one of them new gaffs that we have been to, totally underwhelmed, win or lose!

Do you know thats it, football for me is about exactly that.Souless new stadiums really dont do it.There are 60,000 people at the Emirates every week for example, but I dont think there is an Arsenal fan I've spoken to who doesn't prefer Highbury.

Whilst I completely agree with this, it does seem to be at odds with everything else I've ever seen you say about Southend United.
The truth always comes out in the end!;)
