Goodbye Essex FM/Essex Radio, thanks for the memories... :'(

I remember turning up to the launch and either getting a signed straycats or polecats (can't remember which) single. For some reason it's just popped into my head that Suzi Quatro was also at the launch but I don't remember her at the event at all.

Thanks SS, brought back some memories but as I was only 10 when the station launched i remember being in my room listening to the Hairy Eyeball and then Timbo on his late night weekday show, listening on my pocket radio with a single ear piece when of course i should have been asleep.

I'd say 87.7 Gateway FM is still a truly local independent radio station that doesn't churn out the same old crud.
