MC BLUES
First XI
Ok, so we all know we are now in a much tougher league. But are we really as bad as our results suggest? Do we genuinely believe that the teams we are playing now are generally all good enough to score at least 3 goals against us? Or is there something else fundamentally wrong?
Tilly and Brush HAVE done a great job so far. I think we can all agree on that. However, does familiarity breed contempt? Do football Managers have a restricted shelf life? Or is it perhaps that only the very strongest characters and personalities survive for the long term, ie, Alex Ferguson?
I suspect that there may be a bit of unrest in our camp right now and I really do believe that this is a massive test for Tilly.
I hear that two players want out, one of which is a first team regular, and dont worry it isn't Freddy thank god. I also hear that the new boys are in one group, Maher has his little clique, and then there are the others. Now before anyone jumps on me I know full well that this reflects real life to some extent. However, we also have the Ricketts affair to think about. Do we just blame Ricketts for his unwillingness to train properly and get himself in shape? Or should the Management of Ricketts take some responsibility as well?
A further observation made yesterday. Was it just me or did anyone else think that passion aside, there was little or no positional discipline on offer by most of the players, and not just Hammell? It really seemed to me that we had players all over the show for much of the game, almost to the point of where it became confusing? Then we have reports of Jay Smith throwing a tantrum in the dugout?! Again, not unusual for a player we might think, but is this yet another clue to a culture development which needs sorting quite quickly?
My point then is this. Are the players REALLY working as well as they should be for their manager and for this club? Is there unrest? Is there a perceived sense of unfair favouritism perhaps? Or, is there a worrying lack of discipline in the camp?
If discipline is a problem then it needs sorting out fast. If any player wants to leave this club then I would say let him go. I know Tilly has been strong in this respect in the past.
Tough job being a football Manager, I wouldn't fancy it that's for sure!
