MEP Elections

As would both the Tories and Labour so change the record.
I don't agree, the language being used by UKIP and their stance on immigration appeals more to racists than that of the main parties, the other UKIP policies are based on attitudes that were more previlent when open racism was more previlent, and the amount of UKIP representatives that have been caught out making racists statements is much higher as a % of staff.

UKIP are not presenting themselves as an openly racist party but a lot of their members are racist, it's inevitable.
They are also having the same problem that the BNP had in that their appeal has increased but the availability of quality candidates haven't and they will be shown up time and time again.
Just today we have had the racist candidate, the sex tape PR exec who was also featured in a party video claiming to be a normal voter, and the recruiters who have got 700+ applications for the EU funded job that Farage gave to his German wife. The wheels are coming off before they have even left the garage.

No, I do not think burning the Union Flag or any other flag [except the one I tourched at Aldershot many years ago ] acceptable. It is simply a statement pointing out that the EU has too much power over this and every other country in Europe. And as you very well know, it is a computer generated image, there was never any flag burning going on in the first place.

Breaking news that a UKIP candidate has been suspended for racist remarks on twitter. Now there's the difference between Farage and the rest of them. He takes action straight away and puts his hands up when he or UKIP are in the wrong while the others bury their heads in the sand and hope it all goes away.

Really? Let me know how long it took him to sack his German secretary.

Couldn't give a toss about burning flags. The Union flag is only usually seen in the hands of extremists, sadly, as Farage proves. At least it shows us where they are. UKIP will have a disproportionate impact on the elections but it doesn't alter the fact that it's a one-man, one-issue party and a magnet for racists. Farage will end up barking at the moon like Webster, Tindall etc.

I know Ginger Spice was a bit fiesty, but blimey :stunned:

Extremists? do me a favour.
So anyone voting UKIP is a racist are they? I take serious issue with that.

Utter rot. Were all those waving flags at the Queens jubilee extremists? What about the Olympics? Seems like some home grown patriotism still gets unfairly labeled by those that find waving any other flag of any other nation perfectly acceptable.

Some fair points, but your Henman Hill version of patriotism swerves the fact that racist loons keep turning up under the UKIP banner. I wouldn't wave any flag as I think that they're divisive. Tell a lie, I usually buy one of those dappy ones at big Blues games.

UKIP are faintly ridiculous, clearly Europe won't go away if we manage to extract ourselves from the EU, and as most of our trade is with them we don't want them too either (and neither do UKIP). It's very easy to blame foreigners for everything, and has happened in extreme right (Hitler) and extreme Left (Stalin) politics, but of course the true issues run far deeper than immigration and are to do with poverty, education and opportunity.
I would never vote for UKIP not merely because of the underlying xenophobia, but because they are directed by failed middle-class former Tories who found them not quite mad enough...

Quick question - hands up who know's who is going to win the euro elections in euro friendly France?

Hopefully,it won't be the FN -if that's what you're implying.

Oh but it will and if the BBC can be trusted, by some margin. Now why are all those european loving frogs voting for the number one anti euro party?

I would have thought Sarkozy's UMP have a much better chance of winning the Euro elections in France, although the FN will undoubtely poll well.

Contrary to what you assert:-

"Opinion polls suggest the FN and centre-right UMP will vie for top place in May"

ie the two parties are neck and neck, rather than the FN being ahead "by some margin",as you claim.
