Mercury Music Prize Shortlist

Burial - a dubstep great.

yes! finally someone on the same wavelength. it's a superb album

elbow, burial or radiohead. the plant&krauss album is really good, the BSP is pretty solid too but after '97 i reckon this could be radioheads year

That Burial one is quite interesting.

A far better example for elbow though...

they do deserve some recognition.

Here's some Neon Neon...
I Lust U - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNQsajC8Zcs
Belfast - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vJi1fmdYbg&feature=related
Sweat Shop (live) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bn6OeTuJsGM&feature=related

Plus it's a concept album about John DeLorean

It is a bit boring isn't it. Is that really the best we can manage this year?

Well no, but until everyone realises how ****ing awesome Future of the Left are, then I suspect so alas.

Better albums than most of these:

Portishead - Third
Girls Aloud - Tangled up
Underworld - Oblivion with bells
Aidan John Moffat - I can hear your heart
Breeders - Moutnain battles
Future of the left - Curses
Caribou - Andorra (I think that was in this time period)
The Chap - Mega breakfast
Clinic - Do it!
The Fall - Imperial Wax Solvent
Hot Chip - Made in the dark
M.I.A. - Kala
Roisin Murphy - Overpowered
Simian Mobile Disco - Attack sustain delay

Odds are very slight and hardly worth bothering with - no 50/1 long shots:

Adele 19 8/1
British Sea Power Do You Like Rock Music? 8/1
Burial Untrue 6/1
Elbow The Seldom Seen Kid 6/1
Estelle Shine 8/1
Last Shadow Puppets The Age of the Understatement 5/1
Laura Marling Alas I Cannot Swim 8/1
Neon Neon Stainless Style 10/1
Portico Quartet Knee Deep in the North Sea 10/1
Radiohead In Rainbows 5/1
Rachel Unthank & The Winterset The Bairns 10/1
Robert Plant & Alison Kraus Raising Sand 6/1

Good List though, I'd forgotten about MIA, how the hell is Kala (and indeed FotL) not on there?

Goddamn music geeks. i knew I'd get a couple wrong...

But yeah, Kala is the biggest exclusion in my book. But then again, its always a bit dull isn't it?
