I'd say PS has a vested interest in praying that Corr comes good(since he signed him).I'm happy to bet you a pony that Corr won't score 20 goals for us this season(loser to donate to ST or SZ).

Hold on a second, I didn't say I thought he'd get 20, just saying that Sturrock thinks he has the potential to score 20.

You've already said he's the worst striker you've ever seen at this level and tried to bet Pubey for 15 goals, what makes you think I'd accept the 20 mark?

So that's a no then?
You also said you'd sooner "take" PS's opinion rather than mine(which is fair enough).
What PS said was:- "I honestly believe he could get 20 goals this season"
I don't.

Yes, of course it's a no. You've said that you think he's the worst striker you've ever seen, and are then trying to make bets that he won't score 20 goals this season. How many League Two strikers do you think actually score 20 goals in any season?

And, if it helps, I'd sooner take Ahmedinejad's opinion than yours, too...

How about a bet that Barry Corr scores more goals than when Barry Conlon top-scored in (if I got the year right) 98/99?

After all you think that Corr is the worst forward you've seen at this level and that will mean that he outscores at least two forwards (I can't and don't want to remember who partnered Conlon that season) from when we were last down at this level.

The loser pays £25 to the Shrimpers Trust for when they next need to loan Ron some money.

BarnaBlue thinks Corr is worse than....... Neville Roach!!!

Thanks, but Pubey and ESB have already turned down the bets I offered(in response to projected goalscoring figures they mentioned).
Your proposed bet would be quite a close call I suspect.Though it hardly suggests you feel confident he'll get a hatful of goals this season(which is after all what I've been suggesting all along).FWIW I'd be suprised if he does more than make double figures even if he's ever present.
I think PS might have cause to regret his remarks about Corr being capable of getting 20 goals this season. There's a vast difference between could and will.
Incidentally, I was suprised at how much Conlon had improved last season with Stockport. He was woeful with us.

Hang on, Pubey's projected goalscoring for this season was 10 goals (double figures), whilst acknowledging that it could be as many as 15.

Corr is in no way "awful", he's an average League 2 centre-forward IMO. I've only seen one game this season (Bradford away) and he looked strong and sharp and has a decent turn of pace for a big man. He's scored 2 in 6 appearances, a simple extrapolation suggests he could get 15 goals in a full season. Personally I'd be looking at double-figures from him this season assuming he stays fit, a useful return from a decent player.

Can someone please remind me how many Benjamin scored in 1990/91 or Goater in 2005/06?

Goater got 11 league goals, Benjamin got 12 league goals (and a few cup goals that season).

I was quoting Sturrock and you know it. I've already expressed my personal opinion in this thread that a tally of 10-15 goals is what's to be expected from Corr this season, yet you've mysteriously managed to ignore that post...

I'm happy to bet you that he won't score 15 goals this season.

Indeed. It's sad that some people want a player to fail for the sake of their cyber-ego.

Au contraire, I'd be delighted to be proved wrong,if he turns out to be the 20 goal striker we need.Let's face it, even 10 goals would be a career best for Corr.
A glance at his record suggests he's injury prone and liable to pick up suspensions.(As with a lot of strikers)his goals also seem to come in spurts. He's certainly on a (mini)-roll at the minute and I hope he nets at Gillingham too.Doubt if he'll be able to do the business over a season though.
