Mulgrew (not signing)

I bet Tilly's pleased!

I really hope this doesn't push him to leave. Tilly seemed to be very keen on getting Mulgrew. Did Ron ever intend to buy him?

What is going on at the club?

At first, I thought the Bailey/Francis/Clarke saga was all about standing up to agents. But we still haven't paid for a player yet this close season. We've made some decent money out of the fringe players. We still have a small playing squad with relatively small total wages (given current numbers in the squad).

Is Ron selling up?

I'm not up for us shelling out money for any old rubbish, but why did we lose out on Mulgrew? Relatively cheap, would have been able to sell on in the future at a profit and get the best out of him along the way - ie what SUFC's always done.

What on earth is going on? We need an explanation or some action from the club. No panic buys and don't spend what we can't afford (we don't want to get into debt just to prove a point) - but I'd like to see us buy some decent players in the positions we need. The current depth of the squad is a joke. Still a bit of time to go before the new season, but WHY did we lose out on Mulgrew? Seems like Charlie lost patience with us too.

SORT IT OUT!

for now at least we don't know for sure whether it was a money issue or mulgrew wanting to head back north... i'm worried it was the former, and think we have missed out and cocked up big time

Don't worry peoples, those Jocks have a tendancy to stick together.

Let's face it,Mulgrew at times last season would have trouble defending a dolls house let alone our goal.
Not a bad player 'till the ball went behind him!

I'd prefer a tall,strong header,tough tackling speed merchant who can whip in a free-kick!

Still can't believe the idiotic challenge that cost us two points against Swansea.

Mulgrew was a good player and I'd have liked to have kept him but there are other good players out there. It's disappointing but failing to sign an attacking fullback who couldn't defend isn't quite the end of the World.

I really think we'll miss him tbh. As i've said before, not the best defender, but attacking down that left wing was very good and his set pieces were the best I've seen at the Hall

If we are going to play a diamond formation then we NEED attacking fullbacks, so losing out on our best attacking full back for years is ****ing crazy.

Not good news on the face of it but I can't believe the cr*p written here about this. Nobody knows the true story. As has already been said maybe CM wanted to go back to Scotland, or perhaps his girlfriend did especially with a new baby it's good to be near family.

Give the club a break when the facts are not know and it's all supposition.

Getting stressed over this will clog up A & E with heart attack victims!!

Good player but I think that there are just as good players on the market and I get the impression that he may have gone to Aberdeen regardless of us making a bid acceptable to Wolves

Bollox to the Fulham game now, I can't be bothered after this fiasco.
Always supported Ron Martin and Tilly, but they've really ballsed up on this one.
Absolutely gutted and disgusted.

Good luck Charlie on your many future caps for Scotland and when you end up in the Championship or even Premiership.

Did you see the look on his face when signing for Aberdeen? Didn't exactly look over the moon to me!

Probably still disappointed that we didn't want to sign him.

Disappointing but if he had a chance to play in the SPL or League One Id say the SPL would have been the preferred choice ? I know the SPL is bad but even so its got to be better than League One for his international chances?

I dont think this is about us quibbling, if it was he would have joined Swindon.

Sounds like he wanted to go back north....

I doubt either of us know the full story. But it all looks rather odd.

Everything we've heard over the last few weeks has been Swindon met Wolves' asking price but Mulgrew didn't agree personal terms; and we were short of Wolves' asking price but it wouldn't be a problem for Mulgrew to agree personal terms with us (if I'm not mistaken this seemed to have been suggested by both Mulgrew's agent and the Echo/SUFC sources?)

I can understand some disappointment but this isn't Gael Clichy we're talking about, this is a guy who seemed to get savaged on here for his defending in his first month with us. He improved a lot as he fitted in to the system but never eliminated mistakes.

To be honest, we're going to miss his set pieces the most but given the attacking players we're in the market for, a set piece taker may well be coming in still.

I'd have happily seen us sign him but he wasn't exactly goign to be the difference between promotion and midtable.

.......possibly the best left side in the division last season with Mulgrew and Gower - now we have neither.

I am really struggling to understand it - indecision appears to have cost us big time - but let's be positive and let's see who Tilly is looking at as I am sure he must have known this was coming for some days now, just hope it's not AB as that seems an act of desperation to me!!

How many goals did we score from Mulgrew set-pieces? I can't remember too many beyond HKR's against Swansea.

If we were signing a leftback for his set-pieces we should have made a move for Lockwood.
