Nick Alliker stepping down from BBC Essex commentary

Interesting that few can remember his name but nevertheless there is a massive consensus that he is a prat.
Big loss as he was a Southend supporter, unlike Speller or Polley. Could be hearing more from Stuart Smith. Like I said, a big loss.

A big loss. A fantastic commentator. It's only when you hear all these other National League commentators every away game, do you realise just how good Nick Alliker is. He also made important goals sound so much better with his genuine heartfelt excitement, and willing Southend to win. On the other hand, he always said how it was, if Southend were poor, or the opposition were very good, he would say so. He will be hard to replace.
