Our stewards are quite possibly the worst I have witnessed in the 50 away league grounds I have visited.

Only we could escort Millwall fans out the ground for death threats and allow them back in!
- they threw coins at the W block
- they ripped the advertising off of the front of the north stand
- majority stood there making slit throat signs at us

And yet the stewards stand there and tolerate it? We go to away games and get thrown out for snowballs (Chesterfield away January 2011?)

to top it off, not a single copper down Shakespeare avenue post game, do they not learn from Luton etc?

Almost as inept as our performance!!

Totally agree was shocking today got made to look mugs both on and off the pitch. 3 weeks time nothing will have changed

How that ****** in the white t-shirt got let back in I'll never know.

To be fair after the game I walked down Shakespeare Drive and they were all coming out of the North Bank and the police were allowing both sets of supporters to walk together and there was a very high presence of police.

I have to agree the stewarding in the ground tonight was terrible and I shall expressing that to the club. Where we were people were standing up near the front in front of people who were sitting. We all know the end block is for the sanding and there has never been a problem and most of the regulars in there are quite respectful of others but tonight it they were even allowing people to stand up at the front and not once did any of the stewards ask any of them to go to their seats or at the very least stand over in the standing section. I did see people drink alcohol in their seats at half time and I sit near the front close to the stewards and they must have seen. The standing at the back of the stand blocked the aisle and trying to get through was quite difficult.
I did look at some of the stewards tonight and some of them looked so young and like scared little sparrows and if thing was to happened they would not have been able to have done anything anyway

I left after the final whistle and was pleased to see a line of at least 8 coppers at the junction with Fairfax Drive.
Not allowing anyone up Shakespeare Drive. Perhaps they have learnt from Luton game after all?

Pretty sure I saw that inept **** Jay Page actually help a Millwall fan rip off an advertising board. Complete embarrassment

The stewards were a joke, even in the West Stand. The fact that so many of our own fans piled into the V block made it very dangerous. If someone had needed a paramedic last night and they needed to traverse the steps, they were knackered.

That being said, and this isnt news, but the Millwall fans are complete animals.

RE: police, there were quite a few at the end of Fairfax Drive and we left at the final whistle.

Yes, there were no police in Shakespeare drive by the exit but I certainly saw half a dozen around the junction with West Road when I left. Thought the police looked well prepared last night and the two or three I spoke to seemed quite relaxed and friendly so one can only draw from that that they felt well in control, certainly didn't see any running about.

You're right about the stewarding last night in the West Stand.
I know the stewards had their hands full last night but there appeared to be very little policing of the aisle stairs between W and V, lots of people standing on the stairs all the way from top to bottom, and a fair number very reluctant to move to allow people to pass up and down; saw several 'face offs' on that one. Keeping the aisles and stairways clear is a pretty basic safety issue and was a bit disappointed to see it seemingly ignored last night.:nope:
There were also some people who seemed to have the impression that they would help themselves to others seats/spaces when they went to get some refreshments or use the 'facilities' at half time, witnessed several mildly heated discussions over that, but that's not the stewards fault, just generally ignorant people who seem to think they can do what they want. Well, they found out they can't.....:winking:
Have to say that most of the perpetrators didn't seem to be W block regulars, seemed to be more interested in making 'Hammer' signals with crossed arms to the Millwall fans.:whistling:

Ha - This happens every year! I remember about 9 years ago this happened. I had my 9 year year old daughter with me.
Both sets of supporters let out at the same time, as the police couldn't control the MW fans.
They (millwall) were throwing punches at anybody, even kids! They will never change...

Lets be honest at £12 an hour for a bit of part time work or whatever they get paid would you really want to wade into the Millwall fans.

Policing has in my opinion been poor of late but seems like last night passed off without to much incident.

I honestly believe MW should pay for additional policing, before during and after the game.

The owners of that club are totally deluded about their fans.

It wasn't that long ago, at Wembley, they were fighting amount themselves.

And 60s and 70s .

Yes, that 70s mob were the worst I ever came across. They were older, bigger and extremely nasty. A lot of them were Dockers at the old Millwall docks. They were the first lot I saw pull out weapons, not that they needed them, knives and dockers hooks, as they ran at us along the North Bank.

The stewards at the Millwall league were just as inept and passive as minority of moronic fans goaded each other from safety of separate stands 50 yards apart. Stewards are poorly paid and in my opinion do a job that most would run away from.
As long as you were not involved, calm down or offer your services:smile:

Was the game so bad that you had nothing better to do than watch the away fans?

i wouldn't say that... I used to do the away end for a sub contractor at roots hall, for £20 a match and got to watch the game... Only having to stand up when the away team scored and before/after the match... Used to love it!

Where I sit in the East Stand (Green) there is a lovely old guy who is the steward for that area, god forbid anything happening to him. Why do the stewards get up at certain events during the game (obvs told to), all they do is block my view, annoying.
