Yarmouth shrimper you say we don't need a loan keeper But if Ted smith gets injured The only cover we have is a young untried kid I feel that's a bit of a risk in our present position I would rather ted plays and an tried and tested keeper on the bench .

Surely we only bring in an "emergency loan" if Ted gets injured or suspended whilst Oxley is injured. Not on the off chance he does....If Ted remains fit and able to play then there is no emergency.

You know ***** all matey, he hasnt even been for a scan or seen the specialist yet! Talk about talking utter tripe

I haven't claimed he has. Some people are very concerned that's all but lets hope the injury does calm down in the next few days.

Oxley has done his job, which was hold the fort until Ted Smith was ready.

In fact he's done well by getting injured and giving Ted Smith an opportunity Smith otherwise wouldn't have been handed.

Blues goalkeeper Oxley fractures elbow

SOUTHEND United goalkeeper Mark Oxley fractured his elbow on his return to action at Dagenham & Redbridge.

Not good news but gives ted a extended run in the team in which he deserves:thumbsup:

Looks like Ted will be getting another (well deserved) run in the side then. Shame about Oxley though, hope he isn't out for too long

Think that will be Ox done for the season which is a shame. Shame to lose anyone to injury. Let's hope Ted continues to bring the level of performance that he's done since Boxing Day and then hopefully raise the bar even higher

If he raises the bar then it'll be easier for the opposition to score!:hilarious::winking:

Shame about Ox, as pre-injury he was looking solid

Incredible opportunity for Ted, who has grown in confidence significantly since the latter stages of last season. No reason why he cannot surpass Bentley.

Good luck to both of them.

Oh well, in the effort to really clutch at straws, at least it wasn't the same injury as before.

I believe he was actually trying to tip a shot over the bar.

I wonder if there are any experienced keepers without a club who we could sign as back-up until the end of the season? It's a bit risky just having Smith and Bexon. From a quick search I see Chris Kirkland and Chris Weale are out of contract. And there's always Lenny Pidgeley if we're desperate. :hilarious:

We will know far more about Ted by the end of the month. 4 hard away games. Provided Ted comes through those ok then I would suggest Oxley will find it really hard to regain his place.

No goalkeepers worth their salt will come in on loan just to sit on the bench. They might as well stay where they are and do that. The only way you'll get a goalkeeper in on loan is if you have no fit goalkeepers, and they're guaranteed a start.
