Thats what is happening, 800 fewer at last home league game as compared to previous. people talking with their feet who love being near the top but hate the so called direct football. (hoofball)

Since Gilbert didn't play against daggers can we safely assume that it's Prosser who put these fans off? It seems pretty harsh to blame Gilbert for that one

As pathetic as criticising someone for being big enough to front up to the media right after a gutting defeat and provide honest feedback to questions when others were sulking in the dressing room?

I agree with this, the only reason Gilbert said something was because he was being interviewed, and as I mentioned before he didn't actually slag off Moshni, just said we would have won with 11 and was gutted.

Do people serious believe that if another player was being interviewed he would have said "it was a harsh sending off and I don't blame him for the fact we lost, as I never wanted to play at Anfield anyway!!!"

I'm sure if someone like Hall had said what Gilbert did, it would never have been highlighted this way

Gilbert 'looks' calm & composed on the ball, so much so, before he can pass (lob) the ball forward he is too late & shutdown by the opposition, not even getting the ball away - very strange for a defender being closed down like that after having so much time on the ball, but this has happened a number of times.....?

Well their not true fans then. As i said we support through thick and thin. They are not true loyal fans if they dont support the team due to the style of play. Under tilson we played some decent football and got relegated two seasons on the trot!

What i just dont get is, why do any of you have to pick on any of our players. They are here under contract so why waste your life on here slagging them off? Just get behind the team. You might just find it HELPS.

If a player isn't up to scratch then I think we have a right to debate that on a forum. Would be opposed to slagging him off on the pitch but if your honest opinion is he isn't good enough what do you want us to do?

Left back seems to be the achilles heel of so many teams. Whenever I think of Discussing about Gilbert I remember Scott Malone and all's well with the world.

Those criticising Gilbert's cross against Vale are being incredibly harsh, IMO. I've just watched it again (also for comedy value) and he put it into a great area without that much power. It's not his fault none of our forwards gambled to get on the end of it.

I'm not a big fan of Gilbert in general but he's been solid enough and certainly better than last season.

Doesnt appear to be a debate just a Gilbert bashing. The original thread was a good one, yet people still come on here and have a go. I just dont understand why we cant all be happy with the TEAM, the position in the league and join as one.

After seeing Sir Chrissy Powell fill that position for 6 years i reckon even Jesus H Christ himself would get a rough ride from our fans

I am crap at left back but make Gilbert look good

Nice bloke and wants to be a fans fav but am afraid mate it aint gonna happen

Well he was called Spud for sure. Why then I dont know.

Boring facts of the day:
In the UK, people with the surnames Edwards, Murphy or Taylor have traditionally been given the nickname "Spud", though the practice does not seem so common in recent years. The "Edwards" connection comes from the variety of potato called "King Edward"; "Murphy" was a nickname for a potato many years ago, because it was so strongly associated with Ireland; "Taylor" was probably the name of a well-known potato supplier.

I would say your being incredibly kind. He had all the time in the world to look up. I can accept a bloke in the park putting it into a decent area but a pro player should be looking to see where his team mates are.

The whole of the South Upper groaned when he crossed it and it was only woeful defending that stopped it being a total waste of a great move.

I would say you are being very harsh, if you watch the replay he was being closed down so didn't have that much time, but had made a good run from the left and put a dangerous ball across the box.

When Gilbert made the cross there were Southend players in the box, so he didn't just put it in for no-one. Ok it may not have gone to one of our players, but then again what percentage of crosses do!!!

Therefore he did look up, he didn't have as much time as you claim and he did see at least one Southend player in the box, therefore he did the correct thing of crossing it straight away. The only criticism you can give him, is that is didn't go to a Southend player, but not every cross ever does (look at Halls other crosses on the day, his first 2 corners didn't get past the first man!!!) even in the Premiershi* League
