Mr. Benedict
The Devious Badger
Morning all,
For those that played last year the rules of the PL will need no introduction, although please note that I have slightly amended the bonus point system and introduced a couple of new initiatives for those that want to maximise their weekly scores.
Posting Fixtures
1. At the beginning of each week, I will post up six fixtures for the following Saturday's games, all of which will be in the competition that Southend are competing in that day (i.e. if we're playing a league fixture, I will put up a list of league fixtures, if we're playing in the FA Cup there will be FA Cup fixtures.
2. When there are midweek fixtures on the following Tuesday / Wednesday, I will put a set of fixtures up towards the end of the week. As a general rule of thumb, if Southend have a first team game there will be an accompanying set of fixtures.
Making Predictions
3. Players may predict as many fixtures as they wish for that week. Obviously the more fixtures you predict upon, the more potential points you can win. Predictions are made by selecting an option from the poll that represents the likely scoreline OR selecting 'Other' and posting the score in the thread itself. 'Other' votes without any corresponding post in the thread will be ignored.
4. If you have chosen the wrong scoreline or accidentally picked the wrong team to win because you haven't read the poll properly then you may change your prediction by sending me a PM as soon as you realise with the correct prediction and the reason. I will not accept changes to predictions because of spurious reasons like detrimental team news.
5. Predictions must be in by the time the poll closes, so don't leave it to the last minute. If you miss the poll I will accept them being PM'd to me up to 1 hour before the kick-off of the fixture, although anyone making a habit of late predictions may eventually find that I am unwilling to accept them.
Postponed or Abandoned Fixtures
6. If a fixture is postponed for any reason, then all predictions will be valid for the rearranged date. The poll for that fixture will be reopened until the match is replayed.
7. A fixture that is abandoned for any reason will be declared void and no points can be gained from the match.
League Tables
8. A league table will be produced at the end of every week's fixtures. Tables will not be produced after midweek games unless there are no games on the following weekend.
9. If you notice an error in the table, please feel free to PM me and point it out, I am only human and prone to making the odd mistake!
Points Scoring
10. The allocation of regular points will be as follows:
- 1 point for a correct forecast (e.g. if you predict Southend will beat Peteborough 3-1 and the score is 1-0 to Southend, you will gain one point from that fixture)
- 3 points for a correct result (e.g. if you get the result spot on)
11. Bonus points:
- A maximum of 6 bonus points will be awarded if you get one point or more from every fixture put up for prediction in that set - 6 points will be awarded for getting 6/6, 5 for getting 5/5, 4 for 4/4 and 3 points will be awarded for 3/3. If there are less than three games in that particular set of fixtures, no bonus points will be awarded regardless of whether you get them all right or not.
- A maximum of 12 bonus points will be awarded if you get the correct result in every fixture put up for prediction in that set - 12 points will be awarded for getting 6/6, 10 for getting 5/5, 8 for 4/4 and 6 points will be awarded for 3/3. If there are less than three games in that particular set of fixtures, no bonus points will be awarded regardless of whether you get them all right or not.
12. Optional Extra Point Scoring Opportunities:
12.1. Wildcards
- Each player will have available to him one wildcard per fixture set, which they may use to gain double points from a fixture. This can be played by adding a post to the fixture's thread stating that they wish to use it. Do not attempt to play more than one card per fixture set, if a player attempts to use two I will only count the first instance I come across.
12.2. First Goalscorers
- If you wish to predict the first goalscorer in a match, you may do this by posting the name in the fixture's thread - if you get it right you will gain one bonus point. You may predict one first goalscorer for every game.
- 0-0 Draws: by their nature, specifying a 0-0 draw is also a vote for there being 'no goalscorer', so you would gain an extra bonus point as if you had got a correct first goalscorer.
If you have any questions about the rules, feel free to PM me and ask :)
