Revs....out on loan?

Not the point.

Whatever you think of Revell, it isnt right what is happening.

It isn't right, but 'doom and gloom merchants' like me have been predicting this all along. It blows my mind that it takes the sale of such a poor player as Revell to get everyone else to see what us 'miserable *******s' had feared for some time.

Thinking more about sellable assets now.

Moussa? Francis? Barnard?

Will Sawyers 'knee injury' see him return to Chelsea early?

Anything is possible...

I think you missed my joke, but the 3 you mention may have gathered some interest this year and our current situation may see us accepting very low offers, well below their 'real' value

Gutted to lose Revs as I was another who rated him highly. The suggestion that he's been moved on above the manager's head in extremely concerning and I just hope that Tilly doesn't walk over this. If we needed to free up cash why haven't we transfer listed the likes of Walker and Betsy?

When was the last time we 'transfer listed' anyone? Dont think we know how to.

Nah, i 'got' it - just making a seperate point. But you are right, could this instigate a 'fire sale'...

All we have to go on at the moment is the Echo article and I see nothing about Ron 'going over Tilly's head', so where has this come from? Is it just pure speculation on here?

I like Revell he works hard, is a local lad etc but if we need to cut the wage bill (inorder to bring in a LB by the sounds), then I'd far rather it was him than the likes of Grant, Moussa, Barnard all of whom we'd get more for.

I don't see the news that we're on financially thin ice as being anything particularly new, and if we're trying to cut the wage bill accordingly then we're being sensible surely?

The only thing that has me scratching my head is the supposed premier LB on his way, even if his parent club pay the majority of his wages he'll still be on a fair bit, we could use Herd and not have to send Revs out to make room, but then our defensive cover would be thinner than a pancake i suppose.

Agreed with that, we all know money is tight. Anyway what premier LB?

Do you remember a supposed e-mail reply from Chris Phillips, following an article he wrote in the Echo, to a poster on 606, that I put on here a month or so ago. IIRC, he was stating the dire situation we were in and that this would become evident in the following weeks. A number of poeple, including myself, doubted its authenticity........ ...................now I'm really not so sure.
I am deeply worried and as pboreham said, it's not the question as to the quality of Revs, it's all about the effect this action, even if it doesn't happen in the end, is going to have on the rest of the team.............already, I wouldn't think that morale is that high in the squad.

Yep for me its not about the fact we lose Revs, but that we seemingly have to move someone on to get someone in. I have a feeling that the agm will come up with some stagering figures,as to the state of Southend United. The tip of the iceberg comes to mind.

Surely Doogie must be on a higher wage? And 5 year deal Barrett?

Right believe me i'm not fishing OR trying to wind people up with this post.

A few weeks back i said our wage bill is MASSIVE. Freedman, Clarkey, Barrett, are/were easily the highest earners, with Macca, Franno, Mildenhall, Barny not far behind.

If you work it out mathematically (as i did as Pboreham can confirm) it puts Freedman and Barrett on around £3600 p/w which is a fair old whack .

Obviously Barrett isn't going no where, but i'd rather see Freedman shipped out to free up even more dough

Interesting that this article also highlights that the reason for the deal is our financial problems. I find it slightly worrying that it now appears to be common knowledge that we are in trouble and I hope that there aren't any last minute swoops for some of our other players.

Almost macarbely (is that a word?) WANT swoops now. **** it - let em come and strip us.

What is the morale going to be like left in the side anyway? As Kay said, players must be thinking 'who is next' - and the fact we are in this state, morale must be low and who is going to be motivated to play for us for the rest of the season knowing we may go under at worst and at least have little chance of achieving anything?

In all honesty, I'd rather see a few more go out now to guarantee us this season trading - recall Calver and play him, Herd, Sawyer and O'Keefe (plus what other youngsters will be needed to plug the gaps) - and then try for cheapy loans to see us through. Least the youngsters will be hungry and motivated - and the fans should give them more of a chance.

I can see support turning pretty quickly - pretty bad start to the season, nobody coming in, players leaving etc. Losing to Orient Friday could be the catalyst.

Better be some answers Thursday - no matter WHAT they are or how bad it is...

Well i think it's fair to say, if we don't get anyone in today before 5pm AND/OR if we have any others leaving, then we are subsequently ****ed and staying in business (let alone this league) will be very difficult

Common knowledge to everyone apart from Ron who is still trying to convince himself that a winding up order is nothing to worry about, that some bank somewhere is actually going to lend us money to build a stadium and that we are in the process of securing our transfer targets early to avoid the fiasco of last season.

Surely this wouldn't be another Chris Phillips **** stirring exercise could it ??

Any direct quotes from people at the club for instance, or maybe he saw it on 606 ??

can't see revs going out on loan, if that does happen it would seem to confirm that we are indeed totally skint and in a very bad way. otherwise why would we loan a player out who cost from memory 100k 150k??

plus we have a lot of soft forwards who you know are going to get injured throughout the season. for example i think walkers been injured more than he's been able to play for us.
