Has anyone else got an addiction to roulette?

I have no doubt lost lots of money on the poxy wheel over the years! Yet the buzz you get from hitting your number still attracts me back.

I don't have a particular strategy and my favourite numbers have changed over the years. Yet I persist in covering probably 14/15 numbers per spin when you know you can only hit 1 number so instantly you have lost money!

The problem is everyone loves a win and in years of roulette I have seen only very few spin covering a single number. I have also seen very few bet on red or black to win which places the odds mostly in the punters favour!

Most that I speak to enjoy playing and have some sort of addiction. Yet we all play with the hope of winning money...

So why do more people not play covering red or black or a single number? Is it boredom of not hitting your number?

I wanted to start this thread to discuss everything roulette from good wins to bad losses and maybe even helping people walk away from the wheel.

Talk to me, Tell me.

short term you might win, long term you'll always lose.

if you feel you have a addiction, and are wasting a lot of money:

A friend of mine is currently residing in one of Her Majesty's establishments thanks to an addiction to roulette and the need to take other peoples money to fund his addiction.

This is a harsh lesson, take heed.

If you are addicted go to GA before it ruins your life.

Just remember there is NO skill in roulette there is NO such thing as a due number and there is NO such thing as form its a game where the odds are always against you when when they are in your favour your return is less then your stake more or less a mugs game really but if you can fly in get a win and walk away then that's the best method never use it to chase a target or recoup a loss

absolutely, sound advice Scott.

oh 2 more tips

1. DONT take a card in there where your wages or savings are just take cash you can afford to lose

2. DO NOT go in there drunk making stupid bets and trying to show off will cost you badly!

Again - I know exactly where you are coming from.
Have limits.
Stick to them.
Spend your winnings otherwise your limits will increase next time you go back to the machine and it will all go in.

A wise man that retired from gambling once told me "why do I want to give my hard earned money to already made multi-millionaires?"
He has a point!

Roulette is a game of pure luck, whereas Blackjack has a little bit of skill to it.

Best ever session of I've ever seen on a roulette table was in Brisbane, about 12 years ago. A guy there was cover 8, 11, 14, 17 and 20, and had big stacks on each number. One of those numbers came up for 6 consecutive spins. The croupier was doing her pieces, a) beacuse it was a bit of a nightmare working out 35 x whatever stake he had on the number and b) because the guy was winning ********s. On the 7th spin he lost and he just cashed in and walked away. He had such a big stack of cash chips that he couldn't hold them all in 1 hand. We reckoned he must have won about A$ 10k in about 5 mins.

Conversely, I saw an Arab guy drop about £10k in 3 spins of the wheel at Westcliff one night. He was lumping on between 3 and 4k a spin, covering the table and not getting anything, not even a street or a corner. Madness....

Funnily enough I'm going the casino after the game tomorrow. :D

Yeah i love roulette and had quite an addiction.

Problem is i felt i had a system that couldnt fail and for a while i was walking out with 50-100 quid up each time.
Then the system failed me and i just crashed and crashed culminating in me ringing the mrs and saying i had done a whole weeks wages.

As you can imagine that went down about aswell as a dose of the clap. I still love a flutter but now try and keep it in check and that fact that my mrs always has my cash card helps.

For what its worth I always play either 0 - 3 or 31-36 with about a fiver spread on each section with 0 32 and 35 getting a more generous portion.

I walked in this bookies in the west end once with a tenner and walked out about 1h and half later with over 300 quid in my pocket.

I have a mate in a similar position but on a bigger scale that has now quit and his Mrs controls the card.
For me I can deal with losing a weeks wages and I have done a number of times now but it is being honest about it to the ones you love. That is the hardest part.
Most of the human race suffer from greed. I am no different. But in terms of winning high instant cash roulette can do that. That for me is the buzz.

I am trying not to bet so much at the moment but when I do it is big because currently i cant get the satisfaction of walking away having won 30 or 40 quid anymore. I really need to get back to that stage.

Any further stories?

I use to work in the Sporting Life now Racing Post, in the days when Big Mac rode down Fleet Street on a tricycle in a cloak and deer stalker, ( Happy days
Anyway a guy had a sure fire plan to win his way out of working, his plan was simple and worked well until ....

His plan was to win £ 20 aday, a fair whack in those days, by only betting on favourites either dogs or horses, never joint favourite or odds on, and basically when he was £ 20 in profit he would walk out

So first race he won £ 20 at evens dogs wins so he is £ 20 up, however if it lost he had to back the next race ie even favourite with £ 40 just to recoup his previous stake plus the £ 20 he wanted to be up, and so on and so on until he was £ 20 up

Well for the first two weeks he was lucky with a favourite winning in the first three races he backed, until one day he had 20 loses on the bounce, his bank account cleared out and lucky enough a kind enough company that paid him advance and deducted a weekly arrears allowance.

Racing/gambling is to me the best hobby in the world providing you can stop and walk away when times are good as well as bad, though I am afraid there are too many hard luck stories in the world,, but I know of one person who has had good fortune over the years and still gambles every day, and can walk away when things are not going well.

Machines in the bookies are theirlifeline with mug punters betting on a machine and knowing full well ,they will be up £100 in aminute and feeding it back plus interest in a matter of minutes, best advice win small and walk away to fight another day.

Agree.
This principle.
Some bloke who gives tips on horses for some wedge in his pocket said to back the favourite or trap one ( I can't remember which!) all night at Romford Dogs it just always comes in. Well that was when I was in my teens. I've never looked into this but I don't need to. As we all know there are no guarantees thus meaning this bloke is a MUG.

Last year, Trap 1 won 18% of races at Romford (that's 3892 races in which all six traps ran).

Trap 1 wasn't even the best performer last year, Trap 3 was with a 21% strike rate.

One tip for Romford. If it's been bucketing down with rain, back the outside traps (5+6). I was there one night when the heavens opened, and every race was won by one of the outside traps.

Romford must have changed allways was 1 & 2 when wet, similar to when Bristol had dog racing, similar my luck holds at Sunderland allways back 5& 6 when wet, with 4 as as a tricast

Great knowledge to have.
double your stake for every time you lose
