I’m a little confused on this, when you do a restructure you cost it out to make sure you can afford the positions in the structure in advance. Each position would have had a cost associate it including Head of Football Operations, you can’t tell me they didn’t ask Stan what sort of cost that would be when putting the business plan together with a role description

Perhaps it is Ron "I must be in total charge" Martin not wanting people know how wonderfully he ruins the club

My biggest concern initially is that if Stan wasn’t to join we may lose out on the Head of Recruitment but that is only one small part of what we’d lose out on. Tom Lawrence has admitted Stan is a massive asset but I have a funny feeling if Stan walked away we wouldn’t look to replace him.

I would guess it's more to do with the precise role and controls that Stan wants in place than the money?

The budget for the position must surely be within the '£250' in Stan's Harry Redknapp illustration.

Could be as simple as not wanting to end ricky and antons contracts?

Ron/tom will be collosal pillocks if they mess this up. Probably %90 - 95 of fans (customers) are behind stan being onboard in some capacity and there is a genuine sense of hope In this time of our biggest despair in terms of the last few years, our league position and fairly crap/average squad.

Its hard to see how stan cant be a part of this reshuffle of roles now we've come this far.

I hope an agreement can be reached and we put all this behind us and move forward.

Whatever the sticking points are, all parties need to reach an agreement sharpish, before this unsettles the fanbase further…

That agreement of course needs to suit all parties. But I’m pretty sure most of us agree that SUFC with Stan involved is looking a far better prospect than without him. For the good of our club, this deal needs to get over the line.

Get it sorted Gentlemen and let’s crack on with the solid blueprint of rebuilding this rotten carcass of a club from top to bottom. Ta.

I’ll also add that the “moratorium” hangs in the balance on this negotiation. We’ve already seen in the last two weeks that a lot of the fanbase has had enough. If this goes south then I’m pretty sure it will become null and void in a large number of fans eyes. Not what we want with the new lads now in charge.

Well said my friend!

Give stan a decent job hes the first person to give us positive feelings in last few years Plus one of the best footballers ever to play for Southend. Typical Southend 2 foot forward 1 foot back

Firstly emotions aside this isn’t that surprising. At the end of the day Ron is financing the club and has to find the money to pay all these people including Stan. Remember we’re in the NL now, not the Championship. I can’t think of many CEO’s who would just say yes to all a potential employees damands. None of us know what Stan is looking for, Ron may have good reason to be cautious. Secondly, and I’ll put my tin hat on here, I’m not sure a public forum is the right place to air what should be private negotiations. I’m all for transparency when appropriate but I can’t help feeling this is a bit beyond that. I hope they work it out and Stan has a role, he deserves it and we all want it. But it has to be right for all parties or it could go south very quickly. Better to take a couple of days or more and get it right.

Ladies and Gentlemen

Hope you're enjoying your Friday and are looking forward to the game tomorrow.

I told you I'd always be open, transparent and honest so I will always carry that through whatever.

Had as always a very open, honest and warm discussion with Tom Lawrence at Roots Hall for a couple of hours so I'll tell you the latest.

From day one in this process (CEO and coaching team procured on the back of my input) it's been important for me to have clarity in any role I have as clarity is what makes any job work. So a "Head of Football Operations" title plus a clear remit to have roles and responsibilities nailed down to the letter benefits Southend United in what they can be guaranteed to get and me knowing what my roles are.

The club and I are a distance apart on roles and responsibilities and are a distance apart on renumeration for those roles. For me the most important thing is the structure of the club and only the structure in order to avoid any individual having undue influence at the club ever again. I want to protect the club at all costs.

As with all negotiations there is a back and forth with compromises on both sides so we'll revisit the situation early next week to see if we can agree a deal.

If we can't, we can't, that's just life and certainly nothing to be sad or negative about, a new excellent CEO and 3 excellent coaches at the club I hope would be added to the 1992/3 survival as proof that I'm always here to help.

See everyone at Daggers tomorrow, make sure you support the boys with lots of noise! ⚪️??⚪

Stan
I must confess all these wages are scaring me but like most I feel Stan is key to this fantastic new project.

You have a good idea on the budget structure Stan so you are aware what the club can afford I would have thought and if the club can afford you then RM does it again ?

Let's just hope an agreement can be reached that is acceptable to both parties ?

2) I recall (happy to be corrected though) that the figure a few years ago showed Ron and his wife were taking £130k per year between them for management and consultancy fees?
What on earth does Mrs. Ron contribute to consultancy fees?. What scented soap ( if any? ) to be placed in the women's loo's?. Unreal!

It’s a question I’ve asked myself before.

I don’t want to fan flames or make accusations, I’m just posing a question. If Mrs. Ron is with £65k in wages per year, I would love to know what she does.

I’m sure someone can answer me.

Edit: I should add I think this was in the accounts a few years ago, but if I’m wrong, I’ll happily be corrected and recant.
