Can't speculate on what will or won't happen with someone in or out of a role. What I'm saying is I would love for Stan to lock down the role first, bring positive change second and negotiate third.Doesent Stan need to be in the role first to implement the changes? Will they happen if he isn't In the head of football role?
Stay strong buddy. Its not lost yet .... its still in negotiation stage and likely to be complex due to Stans other commitments and RMs lack of willing to change. That said, I don't have a good feeling about this. Let's hope it goes through... we'll see ....It’s a shame really. I listened intently last night with all the time thinking why say all this if it’s not agreed. Nothing is certain until it’s signed. As posters have mentioned surely done to gather momentum and backing in the case of negotiations breaking down.
That being said this is the first time in a long while I have had a season ticket. Myself and my family and my best mate and his family all got one. We thought the club could do with some extra backing.
I was enthused by the message that Stan presented. Give us your ideas, email me with suggestions. Long into the night I drafted an email in ways the club could make improvements. Things I’ve gleaned from other sporting environments, other countries. What could make Southend United a better club and a better Matchday experience on and off the pitch. Then my initial thoughts sadly came true. Let’s hope all goes well next week.
Enthusiasm sparks enthusiasm. It inspired me to draft this mail. It will sit in drafts until the position gets resolved. If Stan gets in I will send. If he doesn’t I’m not sure my email serves a purpose. I think that’s what Stans appointment really means to people; enthusiasm, hope and a bit of belief.
I’m fine with either way in truth. He gets in great. If not then not to worry. I’m not sure how a head of football operations can have multiple extra curricular ventures and as Stan says go abroad a lot.Stay strong buddy. I am in the minority here I know but I think we need to ensure we avoid relegation much more than we need a head of recruitment.
A Premier League backroom set up for a club sitting 20th in the National League may not be fit for purpose, and, perhaps now with a coaching team that at least looks competent we should now all take a deep breath and think of consolidating.
It does seem strange that these negotiations need to be made public, as, some this detail exceeds what I would define as 'transparency'.
It also seems odd that having offered to work six months without payment that remuneration is among the sticking points.
While everyone rightly castigates Ron for some of the poor decisions made in recent years there is also no doubt that at the same time the Club have wasted millions on ill judged but well meaning personnel recruitment (players and management). This is money we can ill afford, and, if we are now at last being cautious before committing significant sums of money it is not before time.
Some good points but this is not a Premier League back room structure. This is an approach being implemented by clubs at all levels, see MK Dons and Swindon as recent examples. I think this notion only the top clubs have this structure needs to be dispelled. The issue with it though is it absolutely requires a Director of Football to hold it together and if that isn’t to be Stan we need to identify and employ one asap otherwise we have a gap just like we had without a CEO for a number of years. Will catch up with us in the end.I am in the minority here I know but I think we need to ensure we avoid relegation much more than we need a head of recruitment.

Spot onWe need Stan.
Horses for courses,
Tom
is very good at being a CEO and knows how to run a football club.
Ron
is a very successful business man and knows how to run a business but knows very little about football, and that business.
Stanley Collymore
is very successful at football and within the football industry, punditry, and has an awful lot of contacts.
Horses for courses.
We now have 3 very good coaches/managers, and we could also have 3 very good back room staff.
It's a no brainer for the success of this football club.
You could say it is a dream team for Southend United.
Come on Ron and Tom, do the right thing, for the club, for the fans who follow week in week out, for yourself.
UP THE BLUES.

I would have thought stan has pro rata'd the amount of hours required for the job vs his media earnings.Stan has had a very successful career, and has said himself he doesn't need the money, and is only doing what he has done to help the club.
His negotiation with Ron, and the value he can bring will surely need some financial remuneration but..... Stan would surely be better taking some form of expenses account, rather than losing most of his salary to tax (he must be in the high tax bracket)
So if Ron can put a benefits package together, i.e. company car expense account something like that that that would benefit both parties.
I know nothing about tax avoidance benefits or their workings, but someone at the club, or Stan's accountant will
Some interesting assertions.We need Stan.

This is my view only. Some interesting assertions.
1). We need Stan. Do we?
2). Tom is very good at being a CEO? You know that how? Maybe time will be a clearer indicator .
3). Ron is a very successful business man? Well he seems to do more juggling than you see at Billy Smarts Circus but at least the BigTop is still standing. Just.
4). Stanley Collymore is very successful at football? Historically more so but if you perceive punditry as having your finger on the pulse, well... Clearly if you want to know how great he is just ask him.
5). No brainer? This is SUFC and we are nearer to no brains than no brainer.
5). Come on Ron and Tom, do the right thing, for the club? In your view or theirs?
