Sami made his debut against us for Sheff Utd in 2017 when they beat us 4-2. Came on in 68th Min for Duffy, lasted 15 minutes before injured. Last year injured knee in first game on loan for Oxford, recovery disrupted by further setback needing surgery. Only 38 appearances in past 2 years, scoring just 1 goal. Previously 132 appearances for MK Dons, just 7 goals. Fined for urinating in a beer glass with a Northampton player at Horse racing venue.

Don't worry, just spoke to my Southend guy, he said we were interested, but he's chosen Cambridge. PHEW.

Cambridge United have signed midfielder Samir Carruthers on a one-year contract following his departure from Sheffield United.

The 26-year old former Republic of Ireland youth international trained with Cambridge during pre-season.

Carruthers was previously at the League Two club's centre of excellence as a youngster, before spells at Arsenal, Aston Villa and Milton Keynes Dons.

"I went on tour with the boys and settled in really well," he said.

"I have history with this club and it's near to my family as well.

"Since coming in I have really taken to it and enjoyed being here, so it seemed the perfect fit to get my career back on track and play some football."
 
Annoyingly, Olly Lee, who we were heavily linked with this summer, is apparently having a fantastic debut for Gillingham.
