The County Championship crap batting thread (formerly Derbyshire 9/6)

Champions elect Notts, skittled for 59 today.

And Yorkshire have raced past their total already.

Meanwhile Somerset are squandering a good opportunity to close the gap by allowing Lancashire no hope last pair (combined average - 14.something) to put on over 50 for the last wicket

As this appears to be the bad batting thread, Middlesex have been skittled for 66 today.

Can anyone explain this scorecard to me:

http://www.cricinfo.com/countycricket2010/engine/current/match/435537.html

How did Berg and Murtagh both get first-ballers without the score increasing or Shakib getting a hattrick?

They have either revised the card, or you are looknig at the minutes column, as the scorecard says they faced 2 and 3 balls respectively.

PS. It seems a bit stupid not to have balls next to runs rather than minutes as most people looking at a card would surely be more interested in how many balls a batsmen has faced rather than minutes....

Ah, looks like they've updated it, 'cos that makes a bit more sense now.

Have been having real trouble with cracinfo updating today. I've got Pakistan on 32/0, but if I go into the full scorecard they go up to 40/0. Hang on, I tried that again and they went down to 25/0.

Seems to be working here, 58/0 showing at moment. Best start they have made all summer I presume?! Swann about to come on to bowl, which could be a make or break spell.....

Devon Malcolm been to both of these counties giving batting tips I see.

His four lesson guide as follows;

Lesson 1: Padding Up
Lesson 2: The walk to the crease
Lesson 3: Taking Guard
Lesson 4: The walk back to the pavilion

The batting has just been atrocious this year in county cricket.

I think more specialist batsmen average under 30 than over 40.

Thought this was as appropriate place to mention it as any, but Leicestershire have been bowled out for 48 today.

Not sure if you can blame the pitch as Northants' tailender Lee Daggett scored his maiden fc 50 on it yesterday.
