Two things re the radio

Firstly, when did TalkSport suddenly start talking about politics. Not only were they talking about politics but they were talking so self-righteously that I couldn't carry on listening to their crap. First up was saying that arranged marriages should be made illegal. Fair enough as a view but not when you say that is a categorical decision. Secondly they talk about how politicians used to be regular working people not people groomed through Westminster. Fair enough as a point of view but it seems very harsh to assume that people who go away to university have no life experience whatsoever. If you go to a London university, you will probably live in as rough a place as any and have enough life experiences to give you some idea of what is going on in the world. Anyway, I switched off cos I couldn't take any more and went to 5 Live.

But 5Live presenters all seem to be having a problem with tourettes that is only just under control. The number of times that they've stopped mid sentence when starting a word with "ffff....". Surprisingly good entertainment!!

TalkSport is the radio equivalent of the Sun. i.e. brainless, pathetically standing up for Little Englanders and essentially for morons. Even James Whale isn't funny any more.

Oh, and the sports coverage is sh!t.

I think it is effectively owned, by more or less the same people, that is News International own The Sun and Sky TV, and Sky TV is, I believe the company with most shares in Talksport - around a 20% stake.

Kelvin McKenzie who is the controller is very far right-wing, as are most, if not all the presenters.

Very true. It feels like the aural equivalent of reading "Loaded" - you feel just that little bit more stupid after the event. John Gaunt in the morning isn't so bad as he will at least get an angry debate going but the football discussions hosted by Adrian Durham insult the listeners intelligence. Durham will usually pretend to have an extreme view to encourage the pea-brained to phone in and argue with him. Something like:

"I think the French should be kicked out of World football for 10 years as punishment for what Zidane did"

Whereupon every Tel and Wayne calls in with "HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT?? WHY NOT JUST GET RID OF THE ARGIES OR THE PORTUGUESE?"

Actually, any radio station that has Alvin Martin as a football EXPERT should be treated with extreme caution.
