Universally liked and respected groups

Just thought I would stick my oar in:-

Dislike ABBA, Massive Attack, Stone Roses, Bon Jovi intensley - so they can come off the list

The first album was ok . 7 seas was a good single but from Killer queen onwards i thought they were awful.
I was shunned at primary school for not liking the Beatles, mocked for disliking Floyds DSOTM when it came out and not rating Bohemian rapsody when it was released was almost heresy...

A lot of Artists are liked by people now , who at the time they were at their peak actually didnt care for them. There are many late 40s + fans of the clash, jam , specials, madness etc who were not buying their stuff in the late 70s

Agree with this re Queen - also re people liking bands after their peak - I remember only a few of my contemporaries liked the Four Seasons back in the sixties (and Simon & Garfunkel) - but now they seem to be universally popular

A couple of suggestions, David Bowie, don't think I've met anyone who dislikes him. And a good shout for SZ - Wilko & Dr Feelgood.

The Beatles are probably just as popular here stateside if not more popular than in England itself. A lot of people over here really like and respect Bon Jovi too.
My American wife is currently ****ing herself with laughter.

Surely everyone loves Slade? Except at this time of year, of course.

Good lord no.

Don't know of it's been mentioned but what about Oasis?

I don't know anyone that doesn't know all the words to wonderwall.

Oasis are probably my least favourite band of all time, and Wonderwall is perhaps their biggest crime.
