WELL DONE RON, NEARLY ALL IS FORGIVEN!

I'm not a great go for walks bloke, but I wouldn't mind betting that if you start off from Prittlewell Station and do a step count there wouldn't be a huge difference in distance to the new ground via Jones Memorial park (included in the FF plans) and a walk at present to Roots Hall. It might be a little longer but no worse than some we have trudged to for away games. I also expect that the Club will lay on shuttle buses to the new ground as well (optimistic dreaming!).

I keep saying this. It's not that different at all. 10-12 mins walk to RH from Prittlewell station, and will likely end up being 20 to the new stadium.

Indeed that happened in both cases, but it took Luton 5 seasons & Lincoln 6 seasons before they regained their league status.
If it took us that long, only positive would be by then, hopefully the 4th stand would have been built at Fossetts!!

I'd rather that we follow Bristol Rovers rather than Lincoln or Luton and return to L2 after just one season in the NL please. Thank you.

In terms of speed of return, of course. But Lincoln are a model to follow in terms of how they rebuilt the relationship with the fanbase and local community whilst down there and near enough had a complete audit and reset of the club. Even when regularly in the L2 playoffs in the noughties, they were pulling in around 5k for an average home gate. First season after promotion back into the EFL it was 9k. Almost double.

I would definitely agree with following the lincoln model and i would certainly praise Ron's quick appointment of a manager and a CEO. That notwithstanding, the Lincoln model only works when you have proper investment and are lead by people with serious business acumen.

Lincoln are a sound club on and off the pitch and we are so far from that it is laughable, they are so well run, as one would expect from proper businessmen. We are not, so i would say we are quite a way off the Lincoln model right now. We can aspire to it.

The "Imps" model worked a treat and good luck to them.It was clear to see their fans had suffered long and hard; not even Tilly was able to turn it around!
It looks like they are a club who are going the right way purely in terms of reaching their potential..

I'll just put on the record that amongst the myriad of discussions that we have about SUFC, this is the core of my huge dissapointment. The club has woefully under performed in trying to reach its good potential as long as I've supported. I'm thinking of: BRENTFORD,BOURNEMOUTH,IPSWICH,NORWICH,QPR,READING,ROTHERHAM,SOUTHAMPTON,WATFORD and others. My Dad is no longer with us to quiz him on what the feelings were around the club in 1955 when our own fans built a fantastic new facility on a shoestring. I'd be most interested to get some senior fan feedback there!Ron Martin seemed to going in the right direction, but for me this ended around 2009/10 and I don't see any change being likely given the evidence.

UTB!

Thought it may be a good time to review how things have gone since the protests.
For instance It was always the case that ron was Ron's going nowhere. As a supporter I only wanted a few things to happen.
1. Early appointment of manager
2. Appointment of a CEO also in a timely manner.
3. A squad assembled well in advance of pre season training.
4. Not to be under an embargo.
I have to say I'm extremely happy with the work done thus far.
Although I am also very sad that if this had been the case last season we would still be in the league.

So far so good. For the first time in 3 years, I feel nearly positive!

Yeah, these signings are impressive but can he afford to pay his players and all the other bills or are we gambling again like the Knightly, Kiernan and Cox days/signings.

Repairing the scars of paying late, embargo's and court appearances will also need to be resolved in line with getting out of the league, as soon as he pays late then it's 3 steps back, I hope this strategy is something that we can afford.

We need to get to the stage where agents say "don't worry about Southend, their financials problems and paying late is a thing of the past", this healing process will probably take year's and he can't afford any mistakes.

Yep, Ron should be judged on running the club as well as getting us out of this league he put us in, he's far from forgiven. Hopefully the CEO will help

They spend 6 season in conference, yet they went through 4 managers, plus they get average crowds of 2.5k or less.

Who would of thought getting relegated could bring so many positives! I think the penny has dropped with ron and from now on things are most definitely on the up.

Sometimes it just needs the knowledge that your not completely on your own. This must be such a relief to Ron but all kick started by a player that loves the club just like us! It’s all of our jobs to ensure this positivity continues and it won’t all be roses im sure but deffo agree I feel like SUFC has some meaning again!

So this is all down to Stan? Believe what you will. Maybe we are getting players in early before the embargo hits. Who knows? I am not as confident as many. Yes we have bagged a few seasoned pros but I think too many are underestimating the quality in the NL. In comparison our captures are not world beaters, steady yes, experienced yes, but not so much better than many others in our division. Still, we hope and pray.

They are signings you would expect sufc to make. They are 4 solid pros who come with wealth of experience...... which should stand us in good stead for are first season in the National league. I would like us now to sign some players in their mid 20s, so the squad has nice balance to it.

There is a difference. Kightley, Kiernan, cox etc played at higher level on big contracts. Dunne and Murphy have never had that luxury, need the money and need to stay fit and playing to earn it. They don’t look so risky.

hopefully the new CEO will help generate a cash flow to stop all this non payment of late payment of taxes .And would like to see the last of any EMBARGOS .So the management can get on with the job in hand getting Southend United back in the EFL .

Ron has of course put considerable funds into the club to keep us afloat but also in part because of the position he has allowed us to get into and as others have said still seeks the ultimate pay days from our new development alongside the future security of the club
A good friend of mine is a long term Gills season ticket holder. Scally has put a lot into Gillingham and now mostly lives in Dubai
Mr Scully likes to threaten to pull out citing the financial consequences. However my mate goes a deep red colour when he references the clubs accounts and allegedly the Chairman’s annual take of around £150k

ive not seen our accounts very often as a shareholder, so genuine question as I’ve not seen this side of the coin referred to very often if at all, does anyone know what Ronnies salary is.? does he have one at all or is it all down to Ron’s generosity Has he taken a performance related haircut.?

don’t get me wrong, I understand Ron’s point about the millions it has cost him and no doubt this side of the balance sheet can be seen as exceptional, albeit possibly avoidable years ago, but just wondered whether our leaders benevolence stretches to no annual income whatsoever.
