Chimps who we are the closest to the other great apes do shag each other male or female , they do practice masturbation and sexual technigues on each other as they grow and develope . Now its nice you have the ultimate blueprint for life that includes the absolute concept of what is right and wrong in life and what is also progression and what is not (love that one especially as its a human concept and we are the only ones who can judge it maybe we could be biased On that ? Heres a piece of information your missing , the human imperative to procreate does not leave you if you are Gay or lesbian ... oh no really you say but wait they don't have the parts they are un natural (checks under hood of friendly peeps ) no all the bits are there . But you say how would they do this , well the desire to have kids is stronger normally then the sexual prefernce so back in the past .. and heres the crazy part (much like forced marragies say of european nobel families for the last several centuries ) people came to agreements or didn't have any kids.

However as im sure you know there is a genetic linkage shown in a recent study between siblings that shows that in 1in 3 kids at least one is likle to be Gay/lesbian so there is a gentic link so there fore it is a surviving and reoccurring trait that has a use in human evolution. SO im guessing at some stage gay and lesbian peoples have been having babies or it has some other puropse and yet to join the recessive gene pool ?

Maybe it's a backup like clown fish and its just waiting for the chance to spring in to action ?

First off, judging by your first comment I'm guessing you don't buy into the whole evolution thing, unless I've read it wrong through my tired eyes. Evolution doesn't explain how life was created, merely how life on earth has adapted to its surroundings in order to make the best of things on this ****-stained rock we call a planet. If you're religious, you can still believe in evolution, the two aren't mutually exclusive.

Yes, we have evolved with an innate urge to reproduce. However a few homosexuals isn't going upset that balance.

Nature likes to keep things in balance. A predator doesn't wipe out the entire population of its prey, it needs a decent number of its prey to survive in order to thrive. I'm not suggesting gays are predators, though...

A few lads who like it up the chuff are no threat to sustaining the human race, let them do what they want. If you're naturally inclined to fancy the same sex, there's really not much you can do to change that.

Also, perhaps you could consider that there is no purpose to life. We weren't put here to do anything. We like to reproduce, yes, but whether we're succesful or not doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. As I have previously stated, homosexuality is common in nature. And who's to say what's normal and natural? Watching 11 men chasing a bit of leather isn't natural. Debating the merits of 11 men chasing a bit of leather via a load of plastic, microchips, and wires is even less natural. Perhaps we should go back to being simple hunter/gatherers?

Towards the end of your post political correctness raises its head. Ok, political correctness has its flaws, but essentially it's a bit childish and naive to dislike someone because of their sexual preference, genetic makeup, race, whatever, and people are still being killed because of these things.
