I think we could debate until the cosmic concrete cows come home. Far sharper minds than us don't have a scooby so what chance do us plebs have?
So before the big bang and the universe happened, what was here? Something must have been here to cause the big bang.
How about aliens? is it fair to say in a universe as big and vast as it is, there must be other forms of life too.

Alien life forms I think is a given..with 2 billion galaxies that contain 2 billion stars each...we are a bit hard to spot and even if we were for instance on some others life forms radar they may so intelligent that it would be like us trying to communicate with ants...would we bother?
But even empty space is something waiting to be filled so it is not nothing...which is kind of the question I have been asking in this thread.
Roswell, Rendlesham, Area 51......the massive advances in technology since the late 50's. Are aliens already here?
Well yes but thats a few layers up that causality ;) propably tied in with Bell's therom and string theory :D
I think the big problem is the limitation of the human mind. There are several things that are almost impossible to comprehend. Infinity, absolute nothing, and dimensions beyond those we generally use are three that I'd say make this such a fascinating, and yet mind numbing topic
Are you saying you can't think of nothing?
There was an interesting story once , I forget which book it was from, maybe God is an alien or something..that thinks a few of us were left by a higher species here after the last ice age to see how we developed as they wanted to know how they evolved.
Is Osy referencing the Wire here?
Are you saying you can't think of nothing?
Erich Von Daniken.

Does anyone else when reading a quote from Stephen Hawking read it in their head with the computerised voice?
