Darts are eligible as singer Bob Fish was born in Rochford.

Idiot were our punk band back in the day and drummer Dave Dyke went to WHSB, along with sometime singer Charlie Bennett, RIP.

There was a band called Grinder - who Firestorm knows about - who had a single out circa '79 entitled 'Wickford Is So Boring' so I presume they hail from there.

And an honourable mention for Steve Hooker, who is still going strong.

More Rochford than Canvey, I'd say.

Anyway, they're my pick. Family ties and all that.

Interesting. Please tell who you're connected to, ESB. They were one of the first bands I saw - at The Kursaal on 06.11.76.

I lived in Eastwood at the time and the girl next door knew Steve Nicol, the drummer. He went on to play for Liverpool, I believe.*

Went to see them in a pub called 'The Cricketers' near The Oval in '87 and their manager said they were from Canvey rather than Southend.

Barrie's my uncle. I try to get along to see them if playing in London. Haven't recently though as they've been touring the outer reaches of Europe and the US the last few years.

Thanks - saw them at The Rhythm Festival in Bedford a few years ago and Barrie has still got it! I play them often on The Rob Noxious Retro Radio Show.

Lol, as boy bands go, I liked 5ive. Saw them at SM:tv a few times and they were very likeable, been watching the Reunion thing that's on with them in it.

Aye, I saw him at Christmas and he was talking about the QuoFest tour that they'd just finished. I think he's even writing again...

Hey Paul - what about Wilko in his own right? He's been doing his own thing for over 35 years, whereas he was with the Feelgoods for just over 5.

Sure. I'll add him on. 2 to go.

Does Romford fall in line ?? If so 5 Star

Nope, too far out (26 miles) and Romford is in London.

Dave Mascall, played with a band named Rent Party early eighties, they were mainly on the London Circuit. I think he still plays locally and teaches guitar
