I will be surprised if he holds a first team place. During our playoff season and championship winning year he was outstanding but always thought the champonship was a step too far and since dropping back has not looked massively safe at the back. No coincidence that our best run of defending came with Dervitte arriving and Barrett moving from the centre. Who knows this seaso whether his poor form has been money related or just football? Has been a terrific servant to the club and would have done a job in league 2 but on the downward curve now so surprised to hear this move. Good luck to him - seemed to play with heart which has been well appreciated.

A similar thing happened when we signed Efe in our title winning season as well. For my money he was never much more than adequate at that level.

I wonder if he'll end up playing much left-back?

He played in the Championship with Clarke though, and always does better with a taller partner.

I do agree though, I think he is a league one level player but Palace are hardly flush.

Ironic that Palace went into Administration, cleared their debt and are now signing the players / physios / assistant managers we cannot afford because we avoided administration.

Anyway, good luck Adam

I reckon this may have come with Dean Austins recommendation, being that he was our defensive coach. Not sure I would see him as first choice, but players seem to flourish away from the hall (except Eastwood whose going in reverse)

I always felt that he was a far better defender than people gave him credit for, and this move is well deserved. Good luck, AB.

All the best to Adam, great servant to this club and I am very sorry to see him go.

I fear he wont be the last, and can certainly see Franno, Moose and maybe even Macca following him there. With Darryl and Doogie already at Palace, we may be watching a Southend side playing in South London. Our loss, sadly!

Very surprised he's got a Championship club, but then again Palace do have big financial problems so I guess they're having to go for cheaper players. Great move for him and hope he does well for them, although he'll probably be back in League One soon. Will be very strange to see him in another team's shirt, thought he'd be here forever.
