Why do many people believe that having a new ground ,will make us a better team. The rent will be out of our control, into the hands of the greedy property developers. The projections given by RM will not make too much difference.I only feel doom and gloom at this moment in time. Will someone please explain by having a new ground, but not owning it mind you, will improve our finances and our playing fortunes.
We also have one of the weakest boards that any company could wish for. They are lily livered who will not put up much of a fight against RM.In my opinion they should all resign forthwith. What do they contribute- very little, they are useless !!
I do not trust our current situation.Ok Sainsburys crave Roots Hall, and they may get it eventually, but so what.We do not need a 22,000 capacity stadium.Look at Darlington !!!
I am also disheartened that quite a few very long term season ticket holders are not going to renew.(The longest being a supporter for 62 years, another 45 years).RM and his shenanigans have put a number of supporters off,and i feel they will be lost ,probably forever. The constant BS from the quiffed one, has peed too many people off.
Why not build a smaller sainsburys at Roots on the car park and flats, with parking in a multi storey and enhance Roots Hall stand by stand .Crystal Palace did that.
Get rid of RM and his band of cronnies,he only ever wanted the ground and training ground, which he achieved. Bye Bye Ron and good riddance.

 yes get rid of Ron and it will all be fine ..... *sigh* bringing up the Darlington debate .... AGAIN! I am sure that we WILL own FF and I don't think anyone said that having a new ground will make the team better DIRECTLY, but it will provide more revenue for us to spend on better players.

I understand your concern , of course, I am worried, but without hope in life you have nothing !

it is not as easy as saying bye bye Ron. He owns the Club, he owns the ground and he owns the land that the new ground (will hopefully be built on). Whilst these are truly worrying times, there is no other alternative at the moment. AND DO NOT SAY 'THE CONSORTIUM' !

I will not take any alternative serioulsy untill we know all of the caveats in any other offer that RM may recieve. Until such time, I can all but hope that we will ride through these troubled times and see light at the end of the tunnel. I do not have the money to buy the Club and even if I did, I wouldnt, its not worth it. Loved on the way up, loathed on the way down , damned if you do, damned if you dont.

I will always buy a season ticket if I can afford it, I support Southend, not RM, not Tilly, but Southend United Football Club. I was a season ticket holder for the Jobson years, the Alvin Martin years, the Whelan and Wignall years, these were poor poor years. Yes poor years are back, but untill they die, I will continue to support and hope.

Could you explain how staying at Roots Hall, not owing it mind you, will improve our finances and our playing fortunes ?

No I thought not. Selling part of the ground would mean a short term income that will be gone in a few years and certainly not enough to improve Roots Hall, and would give no non-matchday income at all.

Well for Fossetts, how about the additional revenue streams from the non match day facilities there to improve finances?

For playing fortunes, how about higher salaries and transfers as we have the additional revenue streams, plus the appeal new training facilities and stadium will have to new signings?

As bad as things are the only way out of this now is to get in the new stadium.

As for Darlington, we are a totally different situation to them....

Ron said in the Echo "the retail units will not be open until 2017" so what are we going to do for 7 years for cash ????

Ron said in the Echo "we could stay at Roots Hall and survive if we were happy with League 1 or 2 football". And the problem with that is ???

Stayingin League 1/2 led us to losing our ground to debts.

We are incapable of any sort of progression and I personally want something to play for.

Just to accept we will never be higher than League One isnt something I want to live with and I bet if thats what we did people would be complaining every single year we werent spending money or competing!

Look at Darlington!!!

:zzzzz:

Why do many people believe that having a new ground will make us a better team?

It hasn't done Hull and Swansea much harm for example.

Get rid of RM and his band of cronies, he only ever wanted the ground and training ground, which he achieved. Bye Bye Ron and good riddance.

So he did not want a large Retail/Hotel/Casino development then? One that planning permission has been granted for only with the development of a Football stadium?

Having a new ground will make us a good team because we will have better facilities probably a better league position and descent crowds (like we do now) to attract the players. It is all brilliant saying oh we won't be able to pay the players then either. We will, the worst has just gone.

The rent won't be out of control because we won't be paying Ron Martin anything, he has hinted that what will happen is that the ground will be built and then when everything is all fabulous again he will GIVE us the ground. In his words, Southend aren't paying for rent now, so the won't be at the new stadium.

I don't understand what you mean by our board should resign please explain.

You made the Darlington suggestion again, the bloke who ran this football club and built the ground IS IN PRISON FOR BEING A SERIOUS SCUM BAG!

I really am bored of people saying they aren't coming next season because of Ron Martin! You don't even see the bloke, he is securing the life of our football club, even if you don't think he is, HE IS! IT IS A FACT! You don't have to like the slimey bastad! But it is true! He has saved us, he is going to build the ground! Although it is his fault this season has been a complete **** up! For the obvious reasons. And anyway I will say it again! YOU SUPPORT SOUTHEND UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB, nobody else, it is like supporting Real Madrid when previously supporting Manchester United because Christiano Ronaldo moved there.

Building a smaller sainsbury's just doesn't make sense and we can't rebuild the sides of our stadium, although I would personally love it to be possible.

Any by getting rid of Ron Martin what will that achieve? If you owned something would you sack yourself? No!
He is trying his hardest to sort this **** out ! He may be only doing it because he will get a few pennies at the end of it! But I really don't care, and I seriously believe that he is now a SOUTHEND UNITED FOOTBALL FAN!

Please don't take this as if I am having ago!

Hhmm, out of curiosity, who will own the Stadium if Ron decides he's had enough and resigns from him position?

Secondly, where is the revenue coming from? Legally, we're not entitled to any of the money from the retail/hotel/casino/other crap at FF. So again, it's all down to Rons discretion

You mean the one's that will be owned by Ron Martin? The same one's we're not entitled to a penny of?

It's all at Ron's discretion.

In actual fact, Ron has hinted we will pay rent at the new ground. He said "the rent at the new ground will be capped, so if he decides to sell the ground, the new owner won't be able to hike the prices up".

Saint Ron has been nicked twice and investigated for fraud, although no charged were brought. There are also rumours about him in his younger days being a bit of a 'naughty boy'

Unfortunately we are lumbered with him. There are no two ways about it. We have to hope he doesn't screw us over.

Correct me if i am wrong but didnt Ron say at the Q&A that he would be prepared to either gift the stadium to the club and fans or put a rental agreement in writing in the event of him ever leaving the club ??

How do you know that we are not legally entitled to any of the development profits have you read the contracts and business plans ??
Even if we arent, we are in no different situation to most of the clubs in the football league that rely on benefactors to keep running even the likes of Colchester and Leyton Orient rely on their chairman to keep them afloat and neither of them own thier grounds either.

So you really believe Ron will hand us a £40m pound stadium as a gift? LOL.

Why would we be entitled to the retail stuff? It is completely seperate from Southend United FC. The only linking factor is Ron.

.

He may well do, as he has already said the stadium may cost £40 million to build but the true value will be much less than that, i think he said around 6 or 7 million.

Ok, let me ask you this....

Would you just hand over a £6-7m pound property, just out of the goodness of your own heart?

Let me ask you then, why would he pump money into the club to keep it going ?? and not that i am a financier but i would bet that any gift would enjoy certain tax breaks for him.

Because this FF development is his 'Carrot at the end of the stick'. He knows he'll make a mint on it, so if he has to stump up a bit here and there, then that amount will pale in comparison to what he eventually makes via FF.

Any chance of answering mine now? :)

I think you have just answered it. ;) Perhaps Ron will make so much money out of the development that a gift of that size will be just a drop in the ocean.
