west brom and wolves and preston in their next matches progress onto 73/74 points , while southampton only draw at Norwich and are out of play-off contention by the time we play them.(If Southampton need a point or 3 , then we have to hope the pressure gets to them more than us ) . Cardiff meanwhile have a mathematical chance of the play-offs when they start their match at home to Hull , who they must beat .

When we start our game against Luton we have to assume that Leeds will beat Ipswich ( they might not of course ) . Leeds are 4 goals ( and 3 points) better than us now so would be at least 5 goals better . We therefore MUST beat Luton by at least 4 clear goals ( or Ipswich have to get a point at Leeds ).

If we beat Luton by enough goals then even if Leeds beat Ipswich we could overtake them on the last day if they lose at Derby ( still going for automatics ? -probably ) and if we win at Southampton .

So , if Hull lose at Cardiff , we need Plymouth to get a draw at Hull on the last day , if we are to stay up.

Unlikely , yes - improbable , yes - but impossible , no ! Stranger things have happened .

Whatever we all may think deep down , we must all lift ourselves to get behind the team next week - because unless we win by a hatful our faintest chance will be gone ( unless those nice boys with tractors save us )

with only a few minutes left in todays games i would have taken the point knowing that hull were losing and leeds had lost. we would of been just 2 points behind hull and leeds and possibly only needed to beat luton to stay up depending on other results but no we have to throw it away and hull equalise meaning that if we do not beat luton or hull win we will officially be relegated.

At least Hull don't go into their game knowing that two draws will keep them up . Yes , two draws would put us down , but Hull could come with us if Leeds pick up .

So they can't afford to sit back and in the same way as it happened to us today they might get caught out .

I've always liked the Welsh ....

Challenges are what makes life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.

Very true - if only it were solely in our hands .

at least 3 of the four clubs that could help us have some challenge to conquer-

Cardiff - faint sniff of the play-offs

Derby - automatics

Ipswich - finish above Norwich

Plymouth - *******s !

OK - so far so good . After today's results Cardiff still have a mathematical chance of the play-offs , Derby need wins for automatic promotion and Ipswich need good results to stay above Norwich .

Wins for Cardiff, Ipswich , Norwich and Derby next weekend please m'Lord. Oh and Southend PLEASE !!!

Alternatively, we need a huge earthquake in the North Sea, which causes a huge tsunami which engulfs the north-east coast, wiping out Hull and its hinterland and said tidal surge rapidly submerges everything in its path up to the Pennine Hills. Therefeore, wiping out Leeds as well. Hull and Leeds are forced by the Football League to complete their fixtures with just thiose that survived the tsunami - which is not many.

Meanwhile we still will have to win our last two games, which is another story.

Don't you think that is a little far-fetched ? A tsunami that hits the east coast of England , the size of which is massive enough to flatten Leeds , but doesn't touch Southend ?
