We were wretched against MK Dons. Against a team in the bottom part of the league we were poor. So how would we fair against the team in 3rd place.
As bad as we were then, we were excellent today.
I cant remember Daryl having to make a save, he came out collected the ball when needed, a few punches away thats it. He was only beaten by the goal of the game, a screamer he could do nothing about. Nice touch too, acknowleding the west stands chant.
Can one signing change a season? Sodje was immense, a couple of sky balls and a nasty cross across our area, but he was confident, composed and tackled hard, clearing anything that went near him. Deservedly man of the match.
Barrett, again excellent, again heading, tackling, chasing, committed, his pace catching Brentford out, one minute his chasing a forward down, the next he's in the opposition box.
Brentford were a fairly dirty team, and the ref didnt help. Wayne Gray seemed to be the poor recipient, Sodje, Barrett and sadly Prior were in the wars as well, Prior not returning.
At half time Martin Allen seemed to want to spontaneously combust, he ordered Brenford out well before the end of the interval, and stood well on the pitch berating his players.
There was an excellent move between Jupp, Maher and Bentley, free flowing passing, Maher was good without being outstanding, Guttridge terrorising the midfield.
An excellent performance, we could have had loads more, and it was a bonus to see the goat back.
10,000+ on the day, and the match announcer plugging the Swindon game as if his life depended upon it. Roll on Tranmere
