Macca or Sawyer

I'd much rather we played Sawyer than McCormack. I know McCormack is liked by a lot of people but he's just not cutting it this season and dropping him might get him to work harder and show the potential that he has and that he should when we were in the Championship. Sawyer is young , energetic and willing to to well, play him. Wouldn't be too annoyed if we had sold McCormack either, especially for £200,000.

No, end of. Blimey, we do have short memories don't we?

And play them together!!!

Macca and Sawyer simply wouldn't work as a midfield pairing.

Neither of them, as has been pointed out, excel in the defensive side of the game and both would be looking to get forward leaving gapping holes in the middle of our midfield.

For me its either Sawyer or Macca to partner either JFC or Grant.

For what its worth, I'd like to see Macca deloped on the right wing. He would be able to cover Francis when he bombs forward, but would also offer us more going forward then Granty does. He'd still be able to get forward and offer us a goal threat.

I'd then have Sawyer and Grant in the middle of the park giving us an attacking, creative outlet in Sawyer and a holding midfielder who breaks up the play in Grant. JFC could also play this role, and he did form a great partnership with Sawyer in their initial loans last season.

I'd then like to see us have some geniune width on the left hand side. Friend doesn't appear to look to overlap Moussa as much as Francis does on the other side, so our attacking outlet has to come from the left winger. I'd look to bring in a quick, nippy, direct winger who looks to beat his man and get balls into the box. Spurs have loaned out two of them in Danny Rose to Peterbrough and Andros Townsend to Orient. Either of them would have been ideal.

Again, I have to beg to differ, Macca is more than able to play defensive midfield, and having developed his heading would certainly be up to it.

Really? I certainly don't think we should be converting a midfielder who does, or at least did in the past, look to bomb forward and drive with the ball into a defensive midfielder when we have two very good defensive midfielders at the Club.

For a start he can't tackle as well as Granty or JFC, and he doesn't have the footballing brain to read play and intercept attacking moves.

If he was to get into my side, it would be on the right hand side where I think he could do a job akin to Petts, Bentley and Bradbury did on that side.

Why?

The idea of the thread wasn't to talk about Sawyer or Macca? It was to talk about the effect Sawyer had last night, the effect his had this season and whether he should be starting.

Why? Cos he's stirring the brown stuff again!

McCormack fell back to defence in the last 5 or so minutes before being subtituted yesterday and to be frank, he was awful. Out of pace with the attacks and then he got injured and went off. Not that great if you ask me. I'd rather have Jean Francoise Christophe as a defensive midfielder with Sawyer being the creative one.

Edit: I wonder who voted for McCormack. :D

Sorry, but where is the evidence of him having developed his heading?!?! Macca could do a job there as a one off, but not as a regular in that position. It just isn't his game to sit deep and hold for 90 mins week after week after week...

Do you not see? :stunned: He's really quite good at heading for a little guy

No prizes, I'm loyal at least.:p

It's not Macca or sawyer. They are decidedly not the same type of player. The question is who do you fit Sawyer in to a functioning 4 man mid field. I think this is what Tilly is struggling with as much as we all are.

Can we get over this "Lee Sawyer is a God" thing - it's getting awfully tiresome.

Proof taken recently, that Sawyer is in fact God.

Completely wrong, hence several people have Macca down as their MotM last night - his passing last night was pretty much spot on, .

oh please, his passing maybe wasn't worse/better than anyone elses , because there was dozens of crap passes that never got to their man , but to say it was spot on is ridiculous. I agree with an awful lot of what you say , but this is too much
