Gutteridge tonight starred in a winning Aldershot team at the 'appy 'ammers in the League Cup, as well scoring one of the two Aldershot goals.

Myself and my son were invited over to Upton Park tonight and had a brilliant night watching West Spam getting stuffed by Aldershot , anyway we saw a awesome display in midfield by Gutteridge , he was fantastic . Why did we let him go ?

Because at the time we were in the Championship if I remember rightly and Luke clearly wasn't up to it and didn't produce anything like the form he had to get us promoted in the first place. We then got in Alan McCormack and him n Maher scored a few crackers that season.

That's one way of looking at it, however the problems started when he was dropped from the team so you could definitely argue he wasn't good enough for the Championship.

good old gutteridge has been playing really well for the last 16 months now and so glad to see him down the westham ha ha.

Always rated him and liked Gutts. Always want those players who played in league one title winning side to well, they're a rare breed for Southend. Did struggle on Championship though.

Before me and my mate went on a gap year to Afghanistan, my mate actually captained Stanway Rovers against Colchester in the Essex Senior Cup. Stanway won, Guttridge was ****, and I spent the entire 90 minutes begging my mate to break his legs. True fact.
