New manager

Here's one thread calling for him to go. There are others as well. As I said in an earlier post we fans can have very short memories
im sure the posters in that thread would take it back with the benefit of hindsight.

Crikey, careful what you wish for eh?

Change the names and it’s refreshing to see not a lot has changed in 10 years!!! The opening post has been said about every single Southend side / manager in the last three seasons of struggle as though it was the first and only time anyone had ever said it!

If I remember correctly, under PS, we had 3 home games in a row against opposition down near the bottom and didn't win any of them, which ultimately cost us a play-off spot - that's what got him the sack.

As for CP, we looked so unfit that season (all the injuries can't have been a coincidence) so I wouldn't put it all down to bad luck. Shame though, as I wished it had worked out, not good going through all these different mangers!!!

I think Graham Coughlan would be one I'd look at - although whether he'd want to return south is less sure. Did very well at Bristol Rovers with someone else's team. Less so at Mansfield with his own.

I’d certainly look at Coughlan if we needed tightening up defensively but despite conceding 9 goals in the last 4, I think our issue is more going forward (assuming the players can revert back to the solidity of the Molesley era) and think we may need more of an attack specialist.

Precisely and moving forward properly takes the heat off the defence.

Once youve lived through the shock of whats happened to us, the sheer misery and disappointment, the anger and depression, the good news is you can reach a new settlement where you laugh like a hyenas with an amphetamine dart in its ars. at the comedy gold that is now presented by the Ron and Phil show on an almost daily basis

? 3 more games for Phil to turn it around by playing a midfield of Atkinson, Wright , Dunne and Demetriou

This is all what he was like. If he was this sort of messiah some people on here think he is then he would have done well at at least one job since he left us. There are a lot of other people that could come in who know this level well and can get players confidence. We need to stop being so sentimental taking on ex players and managers again and again.
All great managers deserve to come back at least once! Look at Darren Ferguson he's been back at peterborough 3 times now!

Name me 5 other times a manager has gone back to a club and been similarly or more successful than the first time?

Example - what about mourinho (world class manager) at Chelsea second time? Ruined his legacy and Chelsea were so poor and he was in regular employment. Tilson has been out of the proper game for around a decade!

As pointed out in previous posts, it is unlikely RM would sanction new signings if he planned to show PB the door. Interesting thing will be if these new signings don't materialise before the Solihull game what can be read into that?
If he is shown the door, I would imagine that PB will not only blame the losing culture of the club, but the disruption injuries have had on moulding the team. He has brought in 10 new players, and 7 or 8 of those have missed games/training through pre-season and the start of the season. Yes this does support the risks of signing experienced players, but it has got to have disrupted preparations. Which has to be a factor for several of the players looking clueless about their role within the system.
I think as fans we may need to be a little bit more patient in the hope PB can galvanise the players into a winning unit.

Our two most successful managers, Webby and Tilly signed many players from Essex and the M25 area. As others have alluded to PB seems to rely on players who have played for him before or others past their best. Our current scouting network leaves a lot tone desired.
This is a significant point from players' socioeconomic perspective. I left Essex for a job in semi-rural Lincolnshire 32 years ago and have stayed there ever since. Life up here and in very many parts of England north of Cambridge is much cheaper and lived at a slower pace. If I was a 20-odd-year-old with a young family living in non-metropolitan northern England, I certainly would not consider heading for commuterland Essex. Have a look on Zoopla and compare property and rental prices in south-east Essex with Lincolnshire, non-metropolitan Yorkshire, Derbyshire etc and you'll see why. If you already live in M25-land you are acclimatised to the faster and more expensive lifestyle.

Prem don't count! No excuses loads of money to spend ! Comparing mourinho to tilson is ridiculous!!
