Think the point is, there is no need for it. We are all on the 'same team', even if we dont all see eye-to-eye.

Just the whole atmosphere of the club is in the gutter really, either on here or at the ground. Just not a nice club to be around at the moment.

Perhaps there is a need for it ... some people like to get stuff off their chest and this forum is at its best when that stuff is 'out there.' OK, sometimes it can go a bit 'over the top' but it is only a message-board and I'm sure that we've all encountered more harrowing situations in life. I would be disappointed if the 'Zone became too insipid. Perhaps we should just accept that some posters are more acerbic than others and some are more sensitive than others --- hey-ho, that's life. :cheers:

That doesn't excuse some of the behaviour, though... What's happened shouldn't be a license for some posters to be a law unto themselves and offer to fight posters whose only crime is to adopt an opinion contrary to theirs. No matter what you do, somebody somewhere will disagree with you, and if your response to that is to fight them then it doesn't exactly bode well.

I think the site represents the views of Blues fans. Some attend and want to be as positive as possible, others want to attend and sometimes let their frustration show at the on/off field situation, and others have got so fed up they have given up going until there is change. All are allowed their opinion, but should not be either too condescending in their remarks or threaten another fan. We are all fans of the same team.

The thing about rep is that it's private and doesn't appear on the thread. As far as I'm concerned people can say whatever they like to each other via a PM or rep comment. When it appears on a thread however, all and sundry get involved and every thread degenerates into a war.

If people continue to show total lack of respect they will be put on moderated posting which means each post they write will be read and approved by a Mod prior to being published. Hopefully that will put paid to abuse, threats and nastiness.

Well hello and welcome to the real world everybody. This is not FB or any other antiscocial networking site. This place reflects the different opinions of many different people with different styles. Some are aggressive, some could be called bullies or childish, others are more subtle or diplomatic in style.

I don't know of you've noticed but the world is a less comfortable place than it was 5 years ago. On the plus side we're just starting to see political correctness disappearing and the constant pandering to the vocal. Kids are now starting to understand, just as we did in the 70s, that luxuries aren't handed on a plate and that's a bit of a shock for them after years of want, want, want, get, get, get.

It may also have escaped your notice that SUFC has been in decline and seemingly, as there is no evidence to the contrary, has little chance of picking things up either on or off the field. I am a lifelong, passionate, supporter and was there in darker days of sub 2000 crowds. If I see **** happening on the pitch do not expect me to sit there and say oh dearie me, you must do better next time. Does that make me a bad supporter ? No just a different one.

SZ has highs and lows. It's still the first site I look to for informed news and uninformed speculation. I love the different characters on here. If I don't like a thread I can always read another one.

OK, so things recently have been a little more aggressive which I'm not advocating, but I am a person who can read between the lines, and I think those who write on here with a style that belittles and\or makes others look stupid are just as guilty as those who are offering people to step outside on here.

It seems ok for one person to make someone look an utter fool by mincing their words articulately, yet when the person made to look a fool responds aggressively he\she is seen as a "bully"

But you can only see it if you look for it. It doesn't appear in the thread where you have little choice. And personally I really don't care what one poster thinks of another as long as the comments are private. And if they are hidden away on the rep page, then to me that's private.

Perhaps it is within the bounds of the technical capabilities for users to opt out of giving and receiving "reputation" ?

It is not double standards. There is no excuse for people threatening violence towards anyone else. It's laughable that you consider 'being able to put forward a coherent argument' as being reason enough for someone to issue a treat of violence.

I don't think thats what he was getting at , occasionally the use of "lesser used" words is solely to make the person it is aimed at seem stupid its these issues as long with the sneering and patronised tones of some posts which is being objected to.

That said, violent threats are unacceptable.

The problem is, in mind mind, that some posters see a post not agreeing with what they say as disrespectful , regardless of the tone or language used .
