Zone Update Peter Clarke Gone to Hudds

not bashing at all is it, just staighting the truth, at the time anyone who would listen was told it was £200 000 clearly it wasnt
jesus hang me for saying the truth

At the time it was 200k - but it changed after his heart condition became an issue. Did Ron say it was still 200K after that? I am quite happy to be proved wrong, just find me the quotes.

At least he has gone now and not a week before the season.

Good luck Clarkey, always gave 100% and will never be forgotten for the last minute goal at The Bridge!!

On the plus side I guess we have free up some much needed wages for the budget.

Also least it wasnt Charlton or Col Ewe either....

This quote from that Huddersfield OS article spells it all out really: -

We have done well at Southend over the last couple of seasons without quite getting there, so hopefully with the ambition that I can see in the Club here we can push onto the next level - and maybe even further than that.

Although to be fair to RM, and as the more sensible amongst us know, we've somehow (ignoring the funding all comes from a different source) got a new stadium to build whereas Huddersfield have been in theirs for 15 or so years. I do worry though that everytime this kind of smokescreen situation occurs it causes various problems. It makes the supporters doubt somebody who in the main has steadied the ship in terms of running the club as well as causing possible frustrations with Tilly which one of these days might just see him walk.

agreed as I staited in an earlier post he was offered a flat contract less than his first year at the club, now thats the way to look after one of your back bones of the team so now weve got to spend money to get someone who wont be as good, kinda works both ways really

Why wouldn't he be offered a contract inferior to the one he joined on?

1) He didn't actually turn out to be as good as we expected.
2) He joined us on Championship wages which are far far higher than for L1
3) Times are hard for all except the wealthy, which we're not.

I would have been amazed and very disappointed if we had continued to pay PC CCC wages for L1 football.

ill dig out the quote that says Walker cost £200 000 and you dig out the quote that says he was going to cost £200 000 but luckiliy we are trying to sign a striker with a whole in his heart so we will actually pay £30 000, but carry on telling you £200 000

in fact I tell you what ill do, im gonna go and have a **** instead then set myself up for an afternoon of You Porn and you can go and tell the missus how you gave me on ehell of a bashing on shrimperzone today

btw: Not got a problem with PC or his decision to join the Terriers. Always seemed to try his best, and didn't let the contract situation affect that.

Another who'll get a warm reception when he plays against us.

Gutted he's going but wish him all the best.

Never played like someone who was transfer listed and always gave his all, would head butt a brick wall if asked.

I know i shouldn't have been surprised by this news but i can't help but feeling really f***ed off about it!

Bosman, you are a ****!

Mate its all about Yaptube fella not Youporn !!

I spoke to him after last seasons friendly at Billericay Town in the Bar, after the game he said he was going back North when his contract runs out this season

So did not matter what was offered on the table he was leaving anyway …

Good Luck to the fella… But hope we have a better season than Huddersfield next year J

speachless

Sad to see him go, but don't blame him for a moment. Never pretended anything, never tried to deceive the supporters. Wish him well - he's going to find it a bit of a cultural shock I think, but am I alone in thinking rather cynically that it's strange how it's been announced today the same day as the news of Adam Barrett's baby being born - a bit of good news to counteract the bad?

Congrats to Adam and his missus, incidentally!
