Snowboard instructor, definitely. Not one of these mincey teach-you-to-take your-first-steps types but a proper we're-going-off-piste-on-day-three instructor. Had some mates out to Whistler and gave them the Jones school of skiing/boarding and they loved it. As money is no object, you can pick and choose customers and when it dumps, you can hit the best trails.

My current secretary has just returned (early) from a snowboard season as there was no snow and decided to have her old job back again!

Anyway, pretty much what Matt said although I'd prefer to be a cricket writer rather than commentator. I'd rather relax and watch the cricket and then write about it, rather than be on air on day. Ideally I'd combine that with some occasional travel writing and photography.

My other alternative would be the challenge of running my own business. Not sure doing what, although I think I was just under £2m short of having the capital to buy Rossi's (I think it was £2m they were asking for). The idea of actually being the one taking the decisions, rather than merely advising on what should be done, and on delegating out rather than being delegated to (and then handing out the flak when its not done for reasons outside of your control rather than being on the receiving end of it!)- seems very tempting. Plus, it would be nice to be directly rewarded for all the effort put in by having a direct interest.

Hey Uxbridge, Corals had Stockport at 6/5 last week which I thought was decent for a tema with 8 straight wins behind them. In fact it looked so good it scared me off so I didnt take it. What were you offering and if your lot ever make a mistake with a price do you let anyone punters know?

To be fair, Swindon are still one of the better teams in the division but I agree, Stockport looked very good for it. Also....

Ladbrokes went 10/11. 6/5 was the best price offered by any of the regular fixed-odds firms and was far too big IMHO.

If we do make a rick, I'd stay quiet about it, but I'd be the first to shout out if I saw a tasty one on a competitor site ;)

WHAT YOU DO NOW: Managing Director of an e-learning business (focused on management learning and development) which I set-up in 2002.

PRO'S OF JOB: While I make my own decisions day by day and no longer have to work for managers/employers I don't respect, the biggest pro of the job by far is the high you get when things go well. Last week the company closed its biggest deal to date (50,000 users in one of the UK's biggest companies accessing our products) - I can't put into words just what that feels like!! Actually, yes I can - think Juppy's second versus Lincoln!!

CON'S OF JOB: Cashflows! Accounts! The Taxman! Payroll! Returns! Aaaagh!! I've never been great with Finance. It all translates into long hours - I love what I do but I'm still working long hours almost every day. The legal/financial aspects of the business are a constant pain in the ****.

IF MONEY WAS NO OBJECT I WOULD BE A: Hmmm. Matt's utopian view of Cricket commentary sounds awesome, but the way I feel at the moment, I'd be happy to just chill-out for a while and just take each day as it comes.

WHAT I DO NOW:

Account Manager for a Media company - basically tell clients when they've been on the telly or radio and sell them copies of it.

PROS:

Just moved right next to Liverpool St after 7 years of getting tubes to Victoria so travel good, money good ( basic + monthly bonus ), casual dress, good banter between colleagues, good hours, quite relaxed in the sense of getting up and wandering around chatting to other departments, unlimited Internet usage, quite flexible if you urgently need a day off or early finish

CONS:

Target based so in a quiet month the bosses can get a bit stressed which makes for a bad atmosphere
lazy production department which makes you look bad to clients
highly strung PR girls literally screaming down the phone at you


DREAM JOB / MONEY NO OBJECT:

some sort of sports journalism - commentator or radio show a la 606

or

successful voice-over artist in the style of Dan Castellaneta ( Homer Simpson ) - earns a fortune but can walk down the street with relative anonymity

Pros: Have been here for a while and built a decent and loyal team that do all the hard work. I just write an imaginative report every now and then and make sure I say intelligent things at monthly management meetings. 15 mins at worst door to door with very few late nights.

Cons: I've made it too easy for myself so now spend my time speculating on shares, renovating property and various other bits and pieces besides my day job in order to keep my mind active. I guess I could do with a kick up the **** career wise to push myself harder.

Dream Job: Crack dealer. Fast car, big gun, free drugs etc etc..loads of perks.

As a foot note to my cons,I am the only one in my office not in the lottery syndicate, 2 years ago they won the Jack pot (split was 1/2 a million each).
