Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Thread - Summer 2025 Edition.

Transfer news
Chris Haigh (GK Worthing), previously mentioned by London Shrimper and Shrimper Stats, is now a free agent, following the expiration of his contract. He is also followed by Chris Phillips on X. I have no inside info, or believe we need another goalkeeper, I'm just trying to connect the dots.
He was in the youth set up when I was there, was only for a year and was bang average at best. Good to see him make a career for himself given the number of lads who never made it. Good luck to him

I meant obscure nations i.e Indonesia etc
We have Husin !!! had a couple off Aussies in the past and Canadians, Now about time we got some Filippinos, get some following then for people of the Philippines. Im tired off being the only one here amongst 128 million people wearing a Southend Shirt as old as it is.

Okay bit of a weird idea and may be its not achievable until we get promotion back to the EFL but it could be an idea to try and sign a player or two from weird countries with a staunch footballing interest.

Oxford signed an Indonesian lad and despite only playing an handful of games he has sky rocketed their social media following and revenue numbers in terms of shirt sales.

I'm not saying sign someone and not play them, we need to sign players who would strengthen the team but maybe this is a little outside the box they could consider.

I know they use scouting and data platforms that have worldwide coverage so a promising player can be identified much easier nowadays.
Signing a North Korean would surely boost our social media following. They, as a country, have proved quite useful peformers on the World Cup stage😁😉

I mean he never managed at non league level Phil Brown thought he would do well and look how that ended up look at the change when we brought in a management team with lower league experience. ( only my opinion )

Managing in league 2 is hardly a life-changing difference to managing NL. It's only one step down. Id understand your point of it was from Championship or Prem. In my opinion Carlisle would be mad to get rid of Hughes as he had started to turn the tide from their disastrous season but there wasn't enough games.

I know Hughes well.
Had to deal with him at three different clubs: Chelsea, Fulham and QPR.
He's not the easiest, say players; he's taciturn, often withdrawn, and thinks a lot more of himself than deserved, imo.
After his Premiership time, was surprised he slummed it at Bradford; even more so at Carlisle.
