Oh well, both Essex clubs are looking for a new manager now, there were rumours of John leaving for Tranmere but now that looks less likely. Given the statement from Robbie I think our 1st team will have an average age of about 18 next season! https://www.cu-fc.com/news/2020/july/john-mcgreal-departure/
I do think a sympathy for Tranmere campaign is called for.
It was totally unfair the way they got relegated ( sod ppg-they’d won their last 3 games) to let a. team get up through farcicle play-offs.And now to get that dullard McGreal inflicted upon them.......

We better act quick if we want Fagan, sounds like just the appointment Colchester are looking for, closer ties to Academy, obviously will be cheaper and has Colchester links!

Oh god, you can see it. Barrett and Maher pass on it and we want Fagan but he chooses them. We then end up with Graham Westley. ?

You are right, Maroon Blue. It would be naive to believe other clubs, including Colchester, are not aware of Craig Fagan's impressive contribution at Southend.

It’s feel wrong as he build a team with youngsters and experienced players and got them playing the right way ??‍♂️ It’s an strange things to do that. Image he ended up as manager of Southend!?

We end up with Westley and I’ll not go to one game next season, home or away.

Why are people even entertaining the idea of Fagan ??? He was working at Virgin gym in thundersly a few years ago before getting a coaching job at hull city academy back in July 2018 and he only got that job through his friend and was on cheap wages. He got lucky getting that job it was a case of who you know.

so put it this way he’s been coaching kids for two years that’s the only experience he has, and people want him to be a manager of a professional club ??? Lol if you think he would be good then you don’t know football. He needs a few more years coaching and first team coaching at that not just coaching reserves or kids to then be thrown in at the deep end.

Listen if he was to go a few leagues down into non league and make something of himself then yeh. But right now he shouldn’t even be considered if we are to be taken seriously. Having said that we are a joke club atm so might Adele’s appointment him for banter.

Sounds a bit like Tilly who was only coaching kids before getting the job.

tilson was loved by the Southend fans just like Adam Barrett is. Fagan has zero attachment like that to the club. And he was coaching for 5-6 years before taking the full time job as manager lol. You can’t compare the two.

wow - is all I can say to that

Chris Phillips says Tilson isn’t the only former boss interested in coming back to the club. Who do we reckon then?

Wouldn’t have thought it would be anyone before Tilson and don’t imagine it’s Sturrock, Powell, Bond or Waddock. Can only be Brown?

Surely fans loving someone or not has no effect on their coaching/managing ability

Fagan has more attachment to the squad than Tilson and Barrett put together, so i don't see that as relevant

A case of who you know? He knew people at the club because he made 132 league appearances for Hull as a professional footballer (including 47 in the premier league). You're making out like he had no connection to the club and he got in because his drinking buddy put a good word in for him.

As the board's foremost contrarian, who do you think should be the lead candidate?

I'm sure you've got some unfashionable choice that has so far been overlooked.

Bond
Powell
Brown
Sturrock
Tilson
Wignall

Our only few coaches since the 2000's?

I can't see Sturrock due to health.
