Really? Seems an awful lot of hypocrisy on here, this is a one off incident, undoubtedly the result of too much to drink at the club's Christmas do. There's a reason they choose to go far away from "home" for these, unfortunately something has happened here which has triggered this. No doubt he's been a very silly boy but don't forget "assaulting a police officer" can actually be something quite minor. It's nothing like the same as Ranger, Clohessy or even Timlin.

Disagree. You have to respect the law.

There has been some talk of a new song at RH when the teams come out. At Scunny they had Sham 69 'If the kids are united'. At Wimbledon they had another punk classic The Ramones 'Blitzkrieg Bop'.

So on the note for Southend United it has to be The Clash 'I fought the Law'

Steve Tilson - missing those glory days now ..

what a mess

I would make Brown work to the end of the season but obviously management recruitment and building a new team should start before ,

If we have to bin Brown off if we plummet down we can get someone in -

if he gets in the playoff brill - and get rid

if he got us up - get rid at end of season

Wordy is, when fit, a good player. He has been, with the assistance of alcohol, a prat. Sadly I had younger days that I prefer to forget and do not consider them to be reflective of me today. He has received a legal slap and now needs to buck up and get back to the business that pays his wages. I expect every one of us has known someone that has had an uncharacteristic faux pas blotting their copy book. It happens. It doesn't make them Al Capone.

Dont think I would retain my job if I was convicted of assault. I'm just bored of the poor discipline by our players and then the lack of proper sanctions by our club. Undoubtably Rangers conviction was far worse, but then we should have got rid of him at the time.

If I got done for assault on a Police officer, I don’t think my employer would like it, and I’d fear for my job.

And I expect your employers would argue they are taking the responsible line in releasing you. Trouble is, the 'responsible' way, is not necessarily the best way. Your past good conduct and character should always be taken into consideration. For many 'minor' acts of foolishness, the loss of ones livelihood, is punishment above and beyond what is required. It may be seen as setting an example to your colleagues but what example? Does it show they are responsible or does it say they lack compassion and are unsupportive of their employees. Sometimes peoples lives have a hiccup that is never repeated. It is not who you are and, generally with the aid of silly juice, it belies your true self. If your employer considered binning you for this misdemeanour then I would question how valued or supported you should feel.

I suggest, hopefully as a one-off, 'Something Better Change' by The Stranglers.

Yes respect the law , but that does work both ways ,as i dont know the full story, but have met many police officers who themselves go looking for trouble, now im not saying this officer was one of them but respect does go both ways, sometimes a smile from a law officer can work miracles a friendly joke may have calmed WW down,Anyway im not condoning his actions just saying it takes two to tango and respect goes both ways .As for my club ,its a shambles at present and will only get worse until change is made , lose to Northampton and we will really be fighting relegation rest of the season.

To get in the play-offs, realistically we'd have to now hit more than two points a game which is Wigan-esque.

It's not going to happen.

Seems to me you thrive under Brown if you are convicted of a crime

There's some truth in that. Brown faced the challenge of increasing the quality of his players against a backdrop of no real transfer budget and there being competition from many other clubs whose location or facilities may appeal to the player more. There's no question that as a result he's taken a gamble on people that other clubs wouldn't - whether that's players who come with a reputation (Ranger) or players that are a gamble from a fitness perspective (multiple).

And if the earlier post about his brother is true then I for one am willing to forgive him for his poor form and brush with the law.
