Bump.All you Marmite fans better get down to Tesco's quick.:smile:

Just got back from the Local tesco's, I am happy to report that here at least Marmite stocks are healthy.

At the till the there was a conversation between two shoppers that the same stuff can be bought in the store branded option for half the price...own goal by Unilever I would say.
 
Apparently the set up of Unilever is heavily reliant on the pound/euro exchange rate - clearly I didn't digest exactly what that was but their cost issues are not as straight foward as you'd expect

It is but they have an operating margin of approx 15 per cent, and are highly profitable.

I don't blame them for trying it on, but there is no way at present Tesco would pass these costs onto the consumer.

The outcome of all this will be that shares in both companies will take a hit.
