Anyone else witness the traffic chaos this afternoon, as about 2 dozen Pony & Traps, (controlled by their owners) ventured into the Old Town, after travelling along Marine Parade in Leigh, and then headed off to Chalkwell/Westcliff?. Did'nt realise they could travel en masse in these numbers on main roads, Presume they were from the local vicinity.
Noticed the distinct lack of Happy Shoppers (PCSO's) in the Old Town, usually some walking around, and no Police anywhere to be seen, to sort the chaos out.
Watched them leave, heading towards Chalkwell, where according to the Echo, they were given 'advice' by the police, and went on their way!!!!. Pic in the Echo shows them all on the beach and sea after causing traffic chaos on the seafront, by being on the wrong side of the road, and in the cycle lanes!.
As dogs are banned from the beach, this time of year, thought horses were as well. Interestingly, when the Echo first printed the story on their site, they had a few comments from the public, which have all since been removed, and no-one can add one. Yet you can on all their other headline stories. Are they paranoid about people making genuine comments without being classed as anti PC.
I'm not biased, but if a couple of dozen guys did the the same thing in their custom cars, (without obviously going on the beach and sea), i'd be surprised if the Plod wer'nt on the scene within minutes, due to the traffic chaos in the area on a very busy day.
Possibly a 'softly, softly' approach as the Police dont want to be accused of targeting these minority communities.

Course they did, but as these "people" don't generally give a **** about anyone else it wouldn't make any difference.

Apparently, some of the Ponies dumped in the sea and on the beach. There is no way on Earth that had this been a load of us and not travellers, we would have been given the same treatment. We would have been given on the spot fines, then told to pick up the Pony poo. Been given tickets and points for obvious traffic violations, and probably escorted home with a severe warning for much tougher consequences if it happened again.

By our police being such pussies when it comes to travellers, it just makes them feel above the law, and encourages them to do whatever they like, whenever they like. Doing that on the busiest Day of the Year on the roads so far, is really taking the pee.
