Not sure with one goal which was a tap ito an open net he can really be classed as knowing where the net is?

He didn't have a bad scoring record for Brighton though certainly scored alot more than Harrold in his whole career. But lets face it he is not going to get a massive chance to score loads with Barney and Dougie on fire is he??

Here is this weeks enstallment of Revelling in it for those who don't recieve the email.

What a difference a few weeks makes hey. Only four matches ago it was all doom and gloom, but now, not even a month later we are moving quicker than Johnny Vegas sprinting for the table at an all-you-can-eat Chinese at Mr Ping’s (go on Ping, that plug must be worth a freebie for me and the better half!).

The importance of this cannot be underestimated. Whilst we knew at the time that we didn’t think we’d finish in the bottom half this season and that we’d come out of it, it’s amazing how everything can be amplified – just ask Juande Ramos at Spurs!

Our first target was to stop the defeats, which we have, and now we are working on our next target, getting back to the form that we hit at the end of the last season.

In regard to Saturday’s game, we were obviously pleased to come away with a victory – especially as the conditions would rival those down Hackney Marshes on a Sunday morning!

Personally I thought I did OK, I won my headers and tried to make the difference in linking up with Barney. I haven’t played many games recently and if I’m being honest I was a bit sloppy at the start but thought I built up my momentum as the game went on and just wish I’d had a few more shooting opportunities.

I must make a special mention to all the supporters who got absolutely drenched down there, and especially those who had their tops off – we’re a long way from the beach to be doing that but fair play to you guys, far braver than me!!

What we have now is a fantastic opportunity to get five wins on the run, and whilst this feat is very rare for any football team – we feel it is achievable and can’t wait to welcome Stockport to Roots Hall on Saturday.

Off the pitch, those of you at Yeovil will have noticed Lee Sawyer’s supposed Alex Revell look-alike moment by copying my hair cut. In my opinion it’s a terrible shout but I know he’s buzzing off it, although I’m not too pleased with it as you can imagine, and I can see why Barney used to bully him!

I say used to because Lee has turned over a new leaf. Not only did he give Sawyer and Forshaw the week off last week, but he’s told me (in the strictest of confidence of course!) that he’s a changed man, and that he’ll be laying off intimidating the youngsters now – although if Hal tries to stop him taking a penalty again I’m sure he’ll revert back to his old ways!

Finally I’d like to make a shout out to the ‘Cabrones’ (Lee ‘the hitman’ Barnard, Dan ‘no-name’ Harding and myself) for their crushing win over the ‘Cholos’ (Adam ‘this is a duff PSP’ Barrett, Simon ‘this is much easier on my Playstation 3’ Francis and Alan ‘I’m not competitive at all’ McCormack) on Grand Theft Auto during the trip down to Yeovil. Basically each away trip we compete against each other on the PSP and we destroyed them this time with a convincing 4-3 win – well it beats watching Besty reading the Financial Times to kill the time!!

Finally, and yes I know you’ve been waiting for it…here’s the dish of the week:

Revs’ Stuffed Pepper Extravaganza (basically a pepper stuffed with portabella mushrooms and couscous, served with a bit of poached salmon – a winner, whatever the circumstances!)

All the best, and hope to see you on Saturday.

Up the Blues,

Revs

Excellent!

Whilst I was standing in the tunnel on Saturday, it suddenly struck me how young many of the opposition players are at this level nowadays, and especially how youthful the Stockport players were on Saturday (even a sprightly youngster such as me felt more like an ageing pro like Adam Barrett for a few minutes!!).

It was also evident that they were eager to get the ball down and put in what I thought was a confident performance after a long journey down.

What Saturday’s game brought to light was that there are a lot more teams ‘playing football’ at this level, and less ‘hoof and hope’ usually associated with playing in this division.

Saying that we are disappointed we didn’t hold out on Saturday once we had taken the lead. The first half went to plan and if we’re being honest, we came out for the second half, started a bit sloppy, their sub scored a ‘worldy’ and once Dan had been dismissed we had to settle for a point, and I thought we battled well for it at the end.

Personally I think I did ok again. This will only get better the more games I play in, the sharper I get, and the better understanding I gain from playing regularly with a settled bunch of team mates. When Dan left the pitch it was obvious that either Barny (Lee Barnard) or I would have to make way, and I was happy to sacrifice myself for the good of the team.

Whilst we’re advised not to talk about referees too much I couldn’t let this week’s column go by without mentioning the sending off. From our angle I have to admit it looked like Dan won the ball with a strong and committed challenge. When moments like that happen, things occur in slow motion and I remember seeing the ref running over, Dan then looking in amazement as he blows for a foul, and then everyone else looking in amazement as he was sent off!

Apparently the word going around is that referees have been told to clamp down on any challenges where the player leaves the ground, which is obviously a little worrying as this would rule out most slide tackles. Anyone who plays the game regularly, and especially those who know Dan, would realise that there was no malice at all in the tackle and it would seemingly be another questionable sending off down at Roots Hall this season.

Would the decision have been different if we were using modern technology, or if the ref would have consulted the fourth official I don’t know, but these decisions need to be made at the top, and soon in my opinion.

Moving on, we’re all gearing up to get our performance level back to where it was against Orient recently, and with Swindon coming here looking to make amends for their defeat to Huddersfield last weekend, Saturday’s game promises to be an exciting event, and one which we are confident we can gain all three points from.

Off the field there’s not much to report this week, although someone caught shot of Kevin Betsy’s mobile phone, where his nick- name back home is ‘The Oracle’ from the film The Matrix. Well Bets, if this is the case you should have known that Betsy’s Blog was doomed for failure as soon as you stepped into the ring with the Revster!

I’ve also heard on the grapevine that I’m in for a slating by the Club Captain in Saturday’s matchday programme. So in preparation for this I think it’s important to give you some background research on your author Adam Barrett.

The other day someone asked Adam ‘I’m down with modern technology’ Barrett about his internet connection. Apparently his missus had to explain that they not only had broadband internet, but they also had a computer in the house as Adam didn’t even realise they owned one. Well I suppose when you’ve got three wings to your house and you’re on £50k a week you wouldn’t notice such things appearing in your house!!!
This weekend I went to Cambridge and managed to go punting. When I told the lads about this Adam ‘I’m also cultured’ Barrett didn’t have a clue what it was, and swore he thought it was some sort of gambling jargon!

I’ve more on our leader, but I’ll keep it under wraps, at least until I’ve seen his column!

Finally, despite no sign of Mr Ping giving me a free all-you-can-eat buffet at his place after my shameful plug last week, here’s my dish of the week, inspired by Chef Bev from the training ground:

Stir fried chicken with chilli and black bean sauce; served with fresh noodles – my favourite Chinese dish, and delivered very efficiently by Mr Ping’s takeaway service (I’m giving you one last chance Ping!)

Anyway, thanks for you support and I look forward to seeing you there on Saturday.

Up the Blues,

Revs
