First XI
I no there are other threads on this but after todays game just wanted to seek other peoples opinions on how many players do we really need.

So far we have

GK: Mildenhall, Joyce
LB: Herd
RB:Francis
CB: Barrett, Clarke.

Sankofa apparently can play across the back four...but i dont feel to comfortable with him at LB after tonight, but its only one game so we have to wait and see.

RM: Scannell
LM: N/A
CM:Bailey, Macca, Moose

FW:Barnard, Furlong, Walker, Revell

And i am really getting annoyed about playing strikers on the wing. As it just does not suit there game...then the 'Boo Boys' will come in begging for him to be sold!

After tonights game, looking how Scannell was our only real attacking threat considering how far Barnard was dropping deep, and from my opinion Walker not doing much leave Furlong to nod the ball on to the centre halves and try create something out of nothing it proves we are in desperate need of 6 + players and fairly quick.

We have no real creativity from midfield, and hopefully Scannell can replace Gower with the 10+ Goals a season as well as assists.

And i also think we do seriously need some more height in the team! but not the 6ft + Strikers we keep signing that are not quite pulling it off (Reffering to Paynter and Harrold) and now considering Mulgrew has signed for ABerdeen it just makes Tilly and Ron's task of signing these players alot harder.

Long post but just had to be said.

As i said in the match thread i think we still need a left back as i agree with you completley about Sankofa, centre back for cover purposes, left and right winger and a striker.

Em.

Thats the one thing that sticks out in our midfield , we have 2 similar players in macca and Bailey , both ball winners / grafters / running beyond the back four .

Moussa / Peggy , both comfortable on the ball , good at spraying the ball wide and neat passes but not really a killer ball type player .
Scannell one good game doesn't maketh thy man but don't really want to pin all our hopes on a former non league palyer as asking to much from the young lad .

IMO tilly needs a different type of midfielder seeing as we lost our two most creative players in Gower and Maher .

Need 6 players, a CB, LB, 2 wingers, centre mid and striker. Anything less and we will end up putting square pegs in round holes when injuries and suspensions hit.

Hate to be pessimistic but I cant see this season fitting in with the once familiar refrain of 'onwards and upwards'. Rather, I think Shrimpers fans will indeed be 'painting the town blue'.
