Latest Rumours Summer Transfer Window Thread 2019

Never ever had faith in Oxley at all.Mr stick to the line., crap at corners. Never helps the defence out.chucks balls to incoming forwards and is an overrated keeper.

He can go to.

Graham Carey at Plymouth has had a great season as an attacking mid with plenty of assists. Too hot for L2

Some of the stuff on here is cracking.

Lenny - signed for a record fee for Millwall
Hooper - Would want wages £10k+ a week
Taylor Moore - Bristol City signed him for £1.5m
Hart - signed a new deal with Blackburn a few months back

Amazing scenes.

The only one of those that might not be true is the Hooper claim. Lenny, Taylor Moore and Hart is all true.

Way too early to start this thread.

We'll only start to get an idea of who's available when clubs publish their retaining lists. We're not going to be able to sign anyone under contract unless their current club is letting him walk. We'll just have to wait and see.

Carey will be wasted with Plymouth in Div2, quality at div 1/ championship level would make an excellent signing. But if PA decide to sell their would likely be a fee that's beyond us.

But apart from Theo they are all too slow!

We need pace, pace, pace....... also a big lumps at CF and CB!!

Hopper was mobile enough. It’s the midfield that’s so slow with the glacially Kightly the prime offender.

Don't forget you can only sign season long loans now.

Really?

I think we do already have that in Cox.

We don’t as the last 8 months clearly demonstrated.

I think we need tall fast centre back who can score from corners .Midfielders like mark gower who score goals another ryan leonard and a younger michael timlin who is a motivator and leader on the pitch and another wayne gray

If we can get Lennon fit he’d be that.

No major surgery needed but a bit of quality in the midfield would be very welcome

No major surgeries would be massive after the season we’ve just had!

Just a thought but QPR loaned Ilias Chair to Stevenage last season, 16 games 6 goals and 6 assists is a good return for a Central Midfielder, Would QPR want him to gain experience at the next level or ,at 21, will they go first tem or unload ?

I’d rather not build around loanees and instead develop our own. I certainly wouldn’t want a midfield pairing where Dru was both the experienced one and the tall one.

Thanks Wiggy.

We need to get rid of wages first. From those out of contract;

Smith - Release
Hendrie - Release
Turner - Release
Batlokwa - Release
Phillips - Release
Ba - Release
Wabo - Release

I'd look at trying to get rid of Kightly, McLaughlin, Robinson and Dieng as well. Doing all of this would clear a lot of wages. I'd then offer White, Coker, Barratt, Klaas, Gard, Acquah deals.

I'd try and get Hart, Bunn and Moore back too. Should give us something like'

Oxley, Bishop
White, Demetriou, Coker, Hart, Moore, White, Kiernan, Lennon, Bwomono
Yearwood, Bunn, Barratt, Klass, Mantom, Hutchinson, Hyam
Cox, Humphrys, Hopper

Fill as needed.

Not sure why you want to get rid of McLaughlin; he showed against Sunderland he's still a good player. Lost his way under CP, but no reason a new manager can't get him back to his best.

Taylor Moore - Bristol City signed him for £1.5m

Amazing scenes.

Didn’t Hendrie cost West Ham over £1m and we got him for nothing. If players aren’t going to get a game then it’s better for clubs to get them off of their wage list.

If people think this thread is open too early or don’t like the suggestions, you know you don’t have to look at the thread. :Headbang::Takethat:

I pretty much agree with all of that, apart from Coker who I might ship out. He’s missed almost two whole seasons now to injury, and wasn’t as good when he came back (albeit unfit). He could easily turn into next year’s Kightly.

I wouldn't offer new deals to either White, Coker or attempt to bring the injury plagued Bunn back.
I'd imagine there's a good chance Robinson will join Swindon.

I'd be very keen on us trying to sign CB Ryan Taffazoli who has been released by Peterbrough. Tall, dominant and can play. At 27 he has some good years ahead of him.

I can't see that there will be any takers for Dieng, or Kightly.
With a good pre season behind him, Macca could yet have an important part to play next season.

We need added height, pace and leadership in the squad next season.

Would you opt for a replacement or move Bishop up to first choice ?

Lets hope the zone can improve on last summer. Out of about 200 suggestions none of them signed.

No need for clear outs, that never ends well. Bond is in the best position to know who should go and who has to go for budget reasons. Who ever is manger won't have any more money for so called 'upgrades'. In fact he may well get less.

Something people should remember when suggesting the likes of JW should go. As we found out to our pain this season you have to use your whole squad at times and JW is very good value for money. Especially when compared to some others

I agree. The majority of your 200 last suggestions could do with major improvement.

I doubt if we have much money to spare and cannot see us paying fees for players. Given the size of our wage bill it may well be we are constrained in how much we can offer any new signing.
Most would agree that Taylor Moore enhanced his reputation in his time with us and I would doubt Bristol City would let him go without a fee.
Ditto Hart; I would guess some kind of fee would be required.
It seems many on here would like to see either/and/or McLaughlin, Kightly, Hyam or Dieng go. They are all on contract and following the type of season they all had it is unlikely anyone would want them at the wages they are currently on. Very doubtful any of them will go unless we let them go and swallow the contract which seems a little pointless.
Whether it is Bond or anyone else, as with all Southend managers, they will find their options severely limited. Which is why we often sign crocks with dodgy injury histories.
The reason why Webby and Barry Fry were so good with us is they had an eye for a player who would develop. Not everyone has that eye which is why our activities in the close season tend to be hit and miss

I suspect that the only players on decent wages we might be able to unload to another club(s) would be Oxley and Cox.
Letting Oxley go would free up some money on the wages front but perhaps it is by no means certain anyone would want him.
I am sure there would be a lot of demand for Cox and it would easy to find a club for him. Of course letting him go would cause an uproar on Shirmperzone but it might be tempting on the grounds of (a) it would free up wages (b) Humphrys and Hopper could be a potent strike force next season and (c) he had such a great season last campaign that he might find it difficult to repeat his success in the coming season, especially in view of his age.
If it was Championship Manager I have already shipped him off and obtained a sturdy central defender and a classy central midfielder using the money his wages freed up.
But this is not Championship Manager and he will not be let go.

Don’t understand why so many are so keen to move Macca on. He’s a great player at this level and he might not have had a great season, but Cox aside, who has? He reminded us against Sunderland just what he can bring and given how hard it is to find wingers with end products at this level, we’d be stupid to let him move on.

As mentioned, with Hyam, Dieng and Kightly all contracted next season, it will make strengthening the midfield difficult. I highly doubt we’ll get many offers for them. Dieng maybe, but with Kightly and Hyam’s injury records and wage demands, I fear we’re stuck with them.

Didn’t Hendrie cost West Ham over £1m and we got him for nothing. If players aren’t going to get a game then it’s better for clubs to get them off of their wage list.
Big clubs are happy to pay what are typically relatively low wages on the hope they can get a sale fee at the end. There are so many youngsters in the Championship/Prem tied to long deals who'll never break through. Their annual wage might be £100,000 and so keeping them and loaning them out is sensible if you can then get £1m for them if they show promise. Taylor Moore is particularly 'valuable' as he's young, has continental experience, has been in the England team youth setup, hasn't (from what I know) had a serious injury. If he shows he's a good defender at L1/Champ level then you can see him going for decent money quite soon.

I expect someone like Luton to be sniffing around Moore, unfortunately for us.

I imagine with Kightly if a new manager comes in and says he's not in their plans, then he may accept a payout to retire and get on with the next phase of his life.

I agree about Macca, the difference in what Macca showed against Rochdale and Sunderland, vs Kightly, is night and day.
