  Spoiler:
From what I recall it was down to the phone records.
The cops were able to verify each of the calls made to Adnan's mobile phone (in Jays possession) except the one at 3.26pm (i think that was the time), which they say is the "Come & get me" call. And the last time Hae was seen (according to the cops) was by the gym at 3.05pm when she bought those snacks.
So based on that, the cops believe the murder happened in these 21 minutes.

someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I've just downloaded Episode 10 - ready for my commute home :)

Ah ok, so it's actually:

  Spoiler:
21 minutes between the school bell and the 3:26 "come and get me call" - which the police invented to suit their line of event. So like most of it, the 21 minute window is nonsense. Thought that was the case, just wanted to ensure I hadn't missed something concrete about the 21 minutes.

Up to episode 7. Jay and Adnam definitely up to something they shouldn't have done IMHO.

Episode 10

  Spoiler:
I like this episode and I saw the defence attorney in a new light. Initially thinking that she was committed to the cause, then hearing that she took the cash for the 'specialists' that were never paid, then hearing about the other claims of negligence against her, but then hearing how losing had really effected her. All a bit fishy. Still undecided as towards guilty or not guilty but the issue of an honour killing hadn't crossed my mind before.

I agree her voice is very annoying - its a surprise that she was such a successful attorney! If I was on the jury listening to her, I'd have to fight the urge of switching off so I wouldn't have to hear her voice!
That said, it came across that she was good at her job & cared about her cases, but in the last few years of life, something happened that caused here to go 180 degrees into a crappy lawyer. Maybe she was struggling with medical fees for her condition?

The honour killing thing by the prosecution & their 'expert consultant' is a complete farce! The description given is so innacurrate & over-generalises it's laughable. The guardian article shows the family were not dogmatic, and it was only the mum who had an issue with alcohol, drugs and sex (but not with adnan having a girlfriend). The only thing on this that may hold weight was the embaressment in the homecoming dance (or whatever that dance was in December), but I'd assume he would blame his parents for that rather than Hae.

I'm still leaning towards Not Guilty for murder, but still undecided wether he knows more than he's telling

Episode 11:

  Spoiler:
Don't really feel like any new information is being provided at this stage. All the rumours seemed a bit of a waste of time. Stealing money certainly doesn't show anything, and gives nothing towards the case. I found myself wondering if Sarah was looking to just fill episodes 10 and 11 with "stuff".

Hoping 12 will end back on the high of the first 7/8 episodes...

So I'm up to date...

  Spoiler:
My general theory for the past few weeks is that Jay and Adnan did the killing and disposal together. Jay then concocted his story to remove his involvement (introducing inconsistencies and implausibilities) and Adnan took the rap for it completely. The prosecution probably suspected Jays involvement, but knew they needed Jays story to get at least one conviction, hence the plea bargain and no jail time.

There are a couple of facts that need to be remembered:
- Jay knew where the car and body were
- People said Jay and Adnan were together and the phone stuff supports it
- Adnan doesn't try at all to call her after she disappears, but 3 times on the day before
- Jay helped bury the body - why do that unless already implicated?

Sarah hasn't really picked too much into the relationship between Jay and Adnan and so I wonder if I'm on the right track for the final episode.

Serial! A poll

So for those that are listening and before the final episode (sadly no big reveal).....who do you think is responsible for Hae's murder?

How many episodes do we have left then? I've not listened to #11 yet, but are we nearly at the end?

12 (this thursday) is definitely the last one. My missus and I have cleared Thursday evening to make sure we have optimal listening conditions. Any idea what actual time the podcast drops? If not we'll save it for our Saturday morning drive to Wigan.

Sounds like episode 12 will be accompanying me on the drive to Friday night's game then!

No idea when it actually drops I'm afraid.

Apparently it's morning in the US so hopefully in the afternoon over here.
