James Walker - Sign him up!

I have no idea about Leon Clarke, but think Heffs would do a good job for you, and Tilly would bring the best out of him, he would make a good partner to Barnard.

Sorry but Revell looks like a non league striker that got lucky. No control, poise on the ball and I cant honestly remember him having a shot on target since he has joined us.

leon clarke was the waste of space that played in the 3-1 defeat at your place earlier in the season and when subbed just walked down the tunnel... started off a great player but by the end of the loan period, he was lazy, useless and just didnt care! dont need that type of attitude in a team environment!

Scottish, again I agree with you, Clarke isn't going to move to Southend, Tilly had the option to sign him but after the Rovers game where he was totally a waste of space, he wisely declined the opportunity.

Clarke would be a liability to sign. He would probably want a 3 year contract with huge wages. Tilly and Ron have learned their lesson from our last lazy overweight striker who was probably on a similar contract.

I think Walker will be joining us so people are going to have to get used to that idea. Walker, Barnard & Revell would be a good combination of strikers and personally I'd like to stick with Hooper as 4th choice. I'd be staggered if Harrold or MacDonald are still here next season.

and what would be your reason for keeping hooper then? dont you think hes had enough chances?!

I've seen enough of Hooper to think that he'll make a good career for himself in the League. I suspect it won't be at Southend United but he's a talented young kid who knows where the back of the net is.

Whilst it's not happened for him here, he's got a 1-in-2 goal ratio at the age of 20 and is only going to get better.

you may be right but i certainly agree hes going to be one of those strikers that cant seem to hammer the goals in for us but may well do for another team... obviously his pace suited hereford in league 2 and i would be interested to see if he went to hereford how he would do in league 1 but for a different team. personally i think he will only be prolific in league 2!

I think you will have a striker pairing of Barnard and Heffs next season. I think for a lot of reasons Heffs will do the business for you.

Walker is a must, he brings a lot to our game and will come good, especially if he joins permanently and gets a good pre-season behind him. Bags of potential.

Revell has been injured for ages and is still unfit IMHO. Again, a good pre-season behind him and he could be an asset next year. Has shown he can win the flick-ons in the air and is good with the ball at his feet.

Hooper has the potential to be a very good player but for some reason, I don't think that it will work out for him here.

Barnard will always be an asset. Leon Clarke, no thianks, and I can safely say that T and B will NOT be showing interest in him anymore.

We need, IMO, 2 new strikers, both of which should be quick and have the potential to score goals.

Heffernan would be a great signing, especially in this division. KNows where the net is, has experience......it's not a silly season rumour, and I think it could have legs.

I've heard it from reliable sources that if Rovers got promoted then Heffs will be going, and if we didn't then his future at Rovers is very uncertain. And given Tilly plays a similar style of football to Dave Penney whom signed Heffs, and that Tilly has previously put a bid in for him, at the time we needed him, now we don't, we will get other strikers, again inside sources suggest we might be after Vokes and Maynard, again if promoted, so Heffs would certainly be going so will Guy.

Is Heffernan any good? He's always looked decent on FM but I wouldn't think thats the best guide to go by. For the prior reason I've always liked him but I'd like to know a bit about your opinion on him. What type of player is he?

He is very much in the box player, will turn fast and shot, not so effective if he has to run from deep, but given a decent supplier such as Gower he will bang the goals in for you, would be an effective foil to Barnard. I watch Barnard last night and thought he needed Heffs alongside him, next season I expect that will happen.

Going back to James Walker... yeah he has pace and he is only young but no way is he a 200k player! Personally I hope we don't sign him... and I don't think I'm alone in saying that. Hes not good enough end of story.

The fact the transfer fell through in January has given us a real chance to look at him and he hasnt produced... Scored a couple of goals so he is better than Harrold but I honestly feel Hooper, Revell and MacDonald would score more than him if given the same run in the team. His finishing is nothing short of appauling. And not only that... people talk about his ability to hold the ball up and bring people into play but he takes too many touches and runs with his head down and consequently loses the ball too easily. Had we gone up he would have been torn apart in the Championship!

If you can get him on the cheap Ron then by all means give him a chance... but I think we have been too good to him already and Charlton will be laughing at us if they get anything close to 200k!!!
